Oh, btw, it is a little stunt made by Carlsberg Beer in Belgium... (Don't want to be accused of pushing viral advertising without warning!)

I think I would have left, not out of fear but because I hate packed noisy movie theaters. That's why I only go to afternoon matinees on the rare occasion I do go to the movie theaters.

Big tough nasty bikers are an American Myth. Completely different in Europe in my experience. Me and my buddies' local favourite Burger place is ran by a Harley Davidson fan, and is the main hangout for his group of friends, so the place looks pretty much like that cinema every time we go there, straight out of a Sons Of Anarchy episode. But they're the nicest folks, just enjoying American custom motorcycles, music and food while cultivating an intimidating appearance. All the European "tattoos, leather'n motorcylces" guys I've met were always very friendly, albeit a little wild, but not at all the savage beast their looks suggest.

I'd have gone for those seats, probably laughing at the situation (whole group taking up one entire room).

Cheers

Nico

Maybe in Europe they are 'Posers'. wink

I have met the rough ones before. So glad I wasn't wearing anything that would have offended them. Ha!

In Europe (as in the US and Canada), the Hell's Angels, Bandidos, Nomads and several smaller associated biker gangs are very much part of organized crime; they run prostitution rings, sell drugs, collect "protection money", sell illegal firearms...in short, they are very well organized and quite ruthless Mafia-like organizations.

VonBarb's experience might not be all too representative is what I am suggesting here. wink

Why men throw their lives away attacking an armed Witcher... I'll never know. Something wrong with my face?

They are no myth. There are plenty of biker gangs here and some of them are very nasty pieces of work. There are plenty of documentaries about them to prove what I say is true too.

Ummm... Not so. Go talk to some Pagans or Bridgerunners, or Hell's Angels. Talk to any one of them with a 1% patch... Just be prepared to throw down. Those dudes would as soon fight as talk.

I have quite a few friends in each of those I just mentioned... And almost every one of them I had to fight with before they would respect me. And believe me... Those were not easy fights.

My first sentence was poorly phrased, I apologize. What I meant by 'American Myth' was that the "Biker" groups such as seen in the video you see in Europe are very different from their violent American inspirations, at least in my personal experience. The stereotype of the violent and ill-intentioned biker that the commercial works on is directly imported from American cultural references that are not necessarily mirrored in European society but have sipped into public imagination thanks to decades of American cultural influences.

Hence the premise of the commercial doesn't appear as dangerous being set in Belgium as it would have had it been set in the US.

Whoever called "Posers" probably hit the nail on the head, at least for some of them wink

Cheers

Since you seem to have overlooked the article I've posted above, let me try again:

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/...ce-2108221.html

http://www.spiegel.de/international/germany/0,1518,545216,00.html

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Nordic_Biker_War

http://www.morgenpost.de/berlin-aktuell/...choeneberg.html (this one unfortunately only in German)

http://www.pedaltothemetal.com/index.php...es_for_war.html

If you believe the European biker gangs are in any way less violent, criminal and dangerous than their American "brethren", then you are mistaken. Hell's Angels, Bandidos etc. operate internationally, divided into local, so-called "chapters".

Just because they *seem* nice does not mean they actually are.
