Not as far as I know, unless you had saved before updating. If you did run the previous version you would cripple the nultiplayer and possibly the career mode as they rely on compatibility with external servers.

It seems at the moment what is some persons wonderful update is turning into anothers "oh bother" or words to that effect. Certainly my in-game experience has been degraded to a noticable extent. It is still good and playable but it is not as good as it was.

Certainly looks as though nVidea and ATI are going down paths that are incompatible as far as RoF is concerned,
and he who has the most voices shouting get the scarce resources.

Time to blog over at the other thread, there isn't much choice anymore but complain to a higher power (that being AMD).

If you ever login online you have to update to the later patch. No choices are allowed (so far as I last heard).

lol, I had the sim stop working for several months after an unoptimised patch caused the sim to stop running fast enough on my old hardware (very old mind you - 2.8Ghz single core and ATI X1300). Technically I was below the minimum system requirements (so I shouldn't complain, right?), but I'm still a bit appalled that something which was working and could still have been working, no longer worked (and I had no control over it).

I've never had issues with RoF until 1.021b. I'm running an Intel i5 2.66ghz overclocked to 3.5ghz, 8gb memory and an ATI 5770 video card. 1.021 ran just fine until this update and now I've got what I assume are stutters while in external padlock view.

I've been looking to update my video card and even though I've had several ATI (now AMD) cards, I'm ready to switch because of this issue.

I would assume upgrading to a nVidia 570 or 580 card would fix the problem???

If this would fix it -- how about all us ATI users (that are financially able) upgrade to nVidia and let AMD know why we dropped their cards!

I have nVidea 460 1 Gb and I am getting random issues and pauses (In multiplayer I believe some are when there are respawns, some seem to be when you initially get your opponent in your sights, pull the trigger and instant microfreeze) and interference with TrackIR centering. I have no idea which setup to go for that will now give you a rock solid perfomance with no glitches.

It seems as though the issues are complex and mutually incompatible

In no way shape or form am I suggesting that Nvidia owners aren't seeing a FPS drop on their machines. Obviously they are or why would they be talking about it. But for whatever reason, I'm not seeing those drops on my EVGA GTX580. Is it possible that the latest patch affects Nvidia owners more severely if they are running at certain settings? I know I get flashing ground textures when I try to run Shaders on Maximum, but if I back it off to Medium I have zero problems at all and (personally speaking) I don't see that great of a difference to matter to me. So I guess I'm asking if other Nvidia owners have tried backing down certain settings both in RoF itself and on Nvidia Inspector (if they are using that) to see if the huge FPS hit is being cause by the way the patch interacts with one of the specific settings on Nvidia cards as opposed to Nvidia chips period. That might explain why I'm not seeing the hit. Are any other GTX580 owners seeing a FPS loss?

GTX580 here.

Mostly get 60 FPS but after update I notice it drops certain times to 45-50 if I look in certain directions. Not sure what causes it. I dont have shaders at max (just under).

What setting effects NVIDIA 580 cards the most? Is it tree distance or shadows?

Also...I should be using "shadows: special high" or "special medium" right? Not "common"?

I was in roughly the same boat, prior to latest patch hardly dropped below 30, after patch - frequently dropped to low 20s. I thought that no more RoF for me until upgrade or this AMD issue is sorted, but then I reduced shaders to High and grass to Medium and its playable again. Although fps is still lower, but at least I still have RoF and still looks awesome- in fact grass on medium imho is better looking than grass on high- its shorter and blends into distance better.

My shaders are on Medium too and I haven't noticed any real hit. 60 FPS the vast majority of the time, sometimes 55 - 57 FPS. Perhaps anyone else who took a FPS hit should try some different settings. Might not notice much visual difference but could add significantly to the FPS.

Yes Hellshade, can confirm a pretty hefty FPS loss on a GTX580, and does not run as smooth. Playing back tracks which I have used as benchmarks confirms this. sigh I usually have everything max barring reflections (don't like the IMO overdone bluish hue etc), but I'm going to have to do some tweaking again. Disappointing, as it was running great prior to this hotfix.

I have tried reducing NV Inspector settings ( I used 4x Sparse Grid Supersampling prior to the hotfix ) and while reducing it to 2x helps, it is not the same FPS gain I would see normally. Will need more time to have a tinker, I'll try to report back later on any findings.

Runs GREAT on my GTX 560 Ti 1 GIG with most settings maxed. That is weird you took a hit on a 580? I am guessing whatever they did with the 'B' version patch for the AMD cards screwed some nVidia based systems? Hope they work it out soon.
