Lucky in the extreme sense of the word... The bear looks young though. A full grown adult would have destroyed her with ease.
Still... I see no proof of Global Warming in that video. It looks like an escaped captive juvenile Polar Bear from it's actions in that clip.

Attacked by a polar bear and then having your trousers fall down on video, pretty bad day.

-Skater i see we have a polar bear behaviour specialist on the team, could you give us more insight of why he attacked her ?

-Skater i see we have a polar bear behaviour specialist on the team, could you give us more insight of why he attacked her ? It could very well be a population issue. No predators you see. A NatGeo program I saw once indicated that they had been having problems with polar bears digging around in Canadian landfills for some time. And likewise around here and in general on the east coast, we have a continual problem with black bears. Again, no predators.

The problem is the ice cap is melting away so the polar bears have to hunt on land.

Polar bears in urban areas (and Up North "urban" = "podunk town") is an old issue, and related more to easy meals than Global Warming.
Let's say you're a polar bear and have the option of A) doing the whole Marine Mammal thing, swimming and walking hundreds of miles in search of air holes used by seals and risking life and limb on a regular basis or B) hanging around a human settlement and getting food by way of their garbage with zero effort and minimal risk, which would you do?
Adolescent and very old bears go after humans and anything else seen as easy game because they're marginalized in the competition for food; the former because it is routinely challenged as a mating competitor and the latter because it is challenged off of its ranking for resources by younger adults.
Casuality is NOT causation.
The opinions of this poster are largely based on facts and portray a possible version of the actual events. More dumb stuff at http://www.darts-page.comFrom Laser: "The forum is the place where combat (real time) flight simulator fans come to play turn based strategy combat."

They can smell potential prey 30 miles away. Bears have keen senses. They are also incredibly fast. And Blade, the issue has to do with a problem of local population control. Not necessarily overall numbers. The NatGeo program this was featured on had fairly self evident video where several were shown tearing through a landfill and causing a general ruckus amongst the local inhabitants. I rather doubt they were motivated by majestic notions of climate change. Bears in general will eat anything they find appetizing, including you or I.
It's a Game.

population issue ? like over population you mean ? are you aware their numbers are down ? and with ice melting, obviously "not due to global warming", they have less places to hunt and stalk seals ? it was also on NatGeo. Oh r'ly? Canada-s-growing-polar-bear-population-becoming-a-problem-locals-say or Polar bear evolved as a subtype of brown bear some 150,000 years ago. They happily survived previous interglacial, which was rather warmer than present interglacial, which was on average still warmer than today. What more, Arctic was as "warm", even warmer as today just in 1940s. http://data.giss.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/gistem...num_neighbors=1http://data.giss.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/gistem...num_neighbors=1http://data.giss.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/gistem...num_neighbors=1http://data.giss.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/gistem...num_neighbors=1Internet gives an opportunity to learn, but for many it is another way how to get dumber.
