My Aunt recently passed away and while my Uncle was going through the belongings he found some old Super 8mm footage she had shot. He had them transferred them to a DVD and for the first time this-week I saw the films.

Now most of them are family memorabilia, but she did carry her camera with her a lot and on one of her trips to The Royal Show in Warwickshire (I make the assumption mid to late 70's) she recorded some low-passes by A Vulcan Bomber, a Lancaster Bomber, the Red Arrows and also some other aircraft I can't make out.

I have uploaded the clip (just over a minute long as sadly film was a luxury then for her) to youtube so anyone interested can view it.

There was no sound on the clip so I have left it as is.

Hope you enjoy it, cheers, MP

Watch it here:

After watching the clip I can appreciate just how large it was but also how 'daring' the pilots could be with low-level passes.

Thank you very much for that.

It brought many memories back as a kid just after the war, being taken to some airshows near Birmingham in the midlands. Dad was a mechanic in the RAF during the war and we went whenever we could afford it. Guess thats why I love flying now

Fly well

If I were to guess on those 'unidentified' ones, they would maybe be Chipmunks?

Wow, nice find. One of my first memories are of an airshow at MCAS El Toro, when a Vulcan did a low flyby. I still remember how loud it was, the smoke trailing from the engines, and how it rattled everything around.

I was referring to the three prop planes just before them, from :47 - :54.

Very nice. Seeing the Vulcan especially brings back a lot of memories. I live near what was BAE Woodford and used to love seeing the Vulcan at the airshows. During the Falklands war they would also sometimes land at Manchester airport and I remember seeing watching with fascination during a football game. Sadly Woodford has shut down and I will miss not being able to share those experiences with my little girl. nope

The BAE lightening was also something out of this world. They would take off and then just go vertical with full power and effortlessly disappear in to the cloud overhead.
