I have decided to run the game in a lower resolution i.e. 1920x1080 instead of the insane 2560x1440. Looking for dots is just too hard and wearing on my eyes. Anyway I can run with everything maxed out inc shadows and AAx2 and it still looks nice.

Last night I was flying on the ATG server with my squad mate JG5_Thijs but again we didn't find anyone (maybe we were too high??) and after 50 minutes my game crashed for a second time in as many days frown Thijs had to go so I decided on one last mission on my own and I headed over to Dover at only 4k.

After patrolling for a while I finally spotted two dots below 1k and dove down to investigate. There I found a Spit which was chasing a 109 the latter was in bad shape and trailing fuel or coolant. As I closed at high speed I throttled back but wound up the prop pitch on the E4 so I could make a quick get away and then fired a burst of MG at range which made the Spit break off the attack. He started to climb and I hit him with another burst from my MG and I could see smoke coming from his port wing. He turned hard to the left and as I still have alot of energy I decided to make a single slashing attack so pulled in to him. As the Spit went out of sight below my nose I fired both MG and the Cannon and saw several explosions but couldn't quite see the aircraft. I started to climb and looked down and I had blown the spits wind right off and down he went.

That was enough for me and I headed for home where I made a beautiful landing but then forgot to pull the nose up as I touched down and dug the prop in to the ground. :p

Not sure who my victim was but I don't know how to bring the chat thingie up in game so I couldn't say S!.

So that was my first CLOD kill.

Love the game biggrin

Congrats! I suck online at CoD (the few times when I can find a game which is up when I have time...), but then I also suck online at Call of Duty...my reaction times are OK for AI bots, but against real humans I just get handed diapers. I'm usually OK when I first spawn, stay high, pick my target, dive down on him (shoot, usually miss) and then inevitably get swatted out of the sky as I try to gain altitude again or get stuck in a turning fight.

So, well done!

T

Congrats, Emil!!!! I haven't flown online for awhile, otherwise I could easily have been your victim. smile

Sounds like the devs could use the info stored in your CoD files regarding your online PC crashes. FF, is this worth a follow up in SimHQ to gather this info for the devs?

congrats bud, i agree it can be frustrating finding a fight sometimes but the lower resolution should definately help finding the enemy.

The problem with the World is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

Congrats on your first kill, don't get cocky ;), getting rid of the chat box was the first thing I did when I installed, can't stand to have all the crap people write on my screen. "Where is everyone... how do I start my plane... this game sucks etc.."

CoOps is the best way to fly online.
Air Quake rooms suck.

Correction, co-ops are the easiest ways to get kills, no human opponents to worry about.

Had more crashes last night, I will send the crash file. Does it record all of them or just the last one?

The ATG server isn't too bad but most of the fighting is on the deck. The quandary is that if you climb to 7k the chances are you wont see anyone but if you fly lower there is always a cunning Spit pilot or two who is well disciplined and has climbed up.

The other thing I am not liking is now everyone is flying the Spit II which is hardly historically accurate and out performs the 109 in every way. With the E4 available you are only getting the better cannon rounds and not even the benefit of the auto prop pitch. Even with an energy advantage it is only a matter of time before a Spit II can get above you.

Depending on the CO-OP, ive played 16 v 16 all human in VEF missions for IL2 and that was the best flying ive ever done.

We need CO-OP for CLOD real bad, why they arnt in CLOD now is shocking. duh

Co-op is there, its just done different. The only thing I can't figure out is how to start where everyone can see the planes available. Currently, you have to create a new plane, then exit it to see the list of available planes.

Human vs Human is still a dogfight, albeit an organized one.

I don't think we have a place to upload zip files to, so the banana thread is probably best for this. Also I might peek inside a crash dump just to check how anonymous the data is. 1C should really use either Windows Watson/Reporting for this or get the game to upload them to something they own - it would give them a whole of stats on what crashes are happening and on what environments.

Isn't that just the case of the server running a mission? The multi-seat aircraft can be all human crewed with the beta too.

No frog, ive had this chat about CO-OPs in CLOD over at the 1C.
We dont have CO-OP yet, and we need it for training and testing.
At the moment we cant run a single mission where we all start at the same time, with set planes and loadouts.
Its just not there yet, i hope it can be added soon.

That kill might have been me. What wing left or right did you shoot off?
