I doubt it, but just in case I'm missing something obvious, is there any way to set the sim to automatically pull you out of accelerated time ("warp speed" x2/x4/8/x16) and back to normal speed once you get within a certain range of enemy airplanes? I would definately appreciate it if there is a way and someone let me know how.

If there isn't, I hope Jason and 777 studios will consider making that a feature in an upcoming patch. I'd highly recommend automatically "unwarping" once enemy aircraft get within 2 miles, because then they are actually close enough to do something about it without them being right on top of you.

If there isn't a way to currently do this, if anyone else would like to see this feature added, please reply to the thread. 777 can't know what we'd like to see if we don't request it in a civil manner.

That would be a good feature but probably not exactly top priority on the dev's "To Do" list. I recall that Silent Hunter 3 had something along those lines. If you chose to speed across the Atlantic at light speed, and a contact appeared on the map, it would automatically slow you right down so you could then take action. It wasn't perfect but it sort of worked. It could probably be much better implemented now.

"Over Flanders Fields" has it, however ... you instantly know there's something in the vicinity that way - out of Warp: enemy present. So some people in OFF asked for just THAT to be removed lol

Haha! Well yeah I suppose there's always the flip side of the coin. Now I think about it, I'm not sure I'd want it after realizing your point biggrin

Yes it does have it in OFF. Unwarps if there are any enemy aircraft within 4 miles of the players plane. True, it warns you of enemy aircraft somewhere in the area so you know to get ready for some action. Is that worse than being in warp speed and suddenly you are shot out of the sky with no warning at all while on autopilot because you had no idea they were there and couldn't possibly react fast enough at 16x speed even if you did? It's always a trade off, but for me I'd rather have the chance to react than get killed with no warning and no chance to really defend myself.

I wish there was a "skip to action" or "auto unwarp" feature. Not horribly realistic, I suppose (though no worse than time acceleration itself), but an hour or two to fly a mission, while qick in real life, is often more than I can reasonably dedicate to gaming.

So instead of 'Warp' maybe we need something more like an FTL jump to next waypoint. You'd be spared the long flights to and from the target area and would be returned to normal speed not based on nearby DRADIS contacts distance to the enemy but on a fixed geographical location.

Cheers

Nico

Good idea, definitely solves a few problems. Of course, it should be in the difficulty settings as an option.
