... Catalyst Hotfix 11.8 for HD4xxx cards.

I have an HD4870X2 and have been getting an awful strobe light effect with each update. Not sure why but after a few hours of tweeking am usually able to correct for this inconvenience. Please RoF make it stop!

I tried the hotfix for 11.8 after the last fix I used with the last update did not correct for the annoying flashing. Everything max'd with HDR on high and the game runs smoothly. The first time I loaded a flight I did get an unusual artifact like a draped flag but going out of cockpit and back in and it was gone. Has not appeared again so far.

Now instead of an ATI Crossfire Logo I get an AMD CrossFireX Logo. Wonder with the single card crossfire solution and cross fire X has anything to do with constraining the strobe effect?

I don't know what you are trying to say exactly, but this is not the ROF forum so the chance of some kind of helpful response from us is zero. Post in the ROF Technical Support forum or send an email to our customer service email address if you want some kind of help.

I think it has something to do with your color profile settings for your monitor in CCC. I have seen that. Also, if you're using a 4870X2 be sure to set the Crossfire/SLI check box in the ROF Launcher under the Graphics tab.

Funny that... it says Rise of Flight - The First Great Air War up there in the banner.

I was not expecting any help from RoF they are just tryin to sell crates, I was more or less informing others who were getting stutters or strobing how I was able to find a solution. I guess you could say I was tryin to help.

BTW somethin 777 has not been able to do so it seems.

If indeed you have found the fix for this bug point me to where I could have saved an afternoon trying to get the game to run w/ out giving one siezures? Else be part of the solution not the problem

Sorry, but your post is a bit confusing. Wasn't sure what you were trying to say. If a fix from ATI stopped the strobe effect you describe (something I've never seen myself) then the issue was with their drivers and not us. Not everything is our fault and if you have been following my comments ATI is a #%&*$# to try and get help from.

Uhhhh, no - he didn't say he was leaving. Another typical effort to misrepresent. He said he wasn't buying more planes, and hadn't flown RoF in some time...in fact, he pretty much said the opposite of he was leaving:

Sorry, Jason. Not buying anymore planes. Not flying RoF anymore. I have it fully installed and updated. I just haven't actually started it in 6 months. I stop by this forum every week or so to see if anything's changed. It hasn't.

I know you don't care, which is really kinda the point, isn't it?

You're appealing to the people here who already pre-order every plane you release. That's not working, though, because you already have their adoration and money.

But those numbers are dwindling. There are any number of active flight sim enthusiasts, like me, who have drifted away from flock. You don't hear from us anymore because we simply got tired of being continuously and vigorously flamed here. (As I'm sure I will be here again.) And when you demand the mods to delete threads and posts that you find objectionable (like mine in the past), you're just refusing to see the answers to the questions you're looking for.

I've offered constructive feedback on several occasions. Not complaints. A complaint is when you say you don't like something and walk away. I've offered observations and do-able solutions, both here and on the RoF forums. Suggestions on the RoF forum are routinely ignored (at least in my admittedly limited observation). Any observations that appear in any way critical of RoF in this forum are immediately met with anger and personal attacks from the 'love it like it is' masses, and subsequently equally ignored.

Again, I know you don't care. Again, the fact that you don't care is exactly the point.

[Hi Dart. Miss me?]

And, by the way, everything the man said at the time - and to this day - is absolutely spot-on. Particularly about deleted threads and posts, and about obeservations that are critical of RoF being immediately met with anger and personal attacks in this forum.

And, in the crowning moment of his comments, my old friend HH has knocked the proverbial head clean off the nail: "Again, the fact that you don't care is exactly the point."

To circle back to topic, fox3's effort to illustrate a problem and a potential solution did not blame RoF, and was posted to possibly help other users of the sim. But it was met with the same uncalled for, blind sort of hostility many of us have come to expect around here.

And, as I've said many times; ultimately, this does both RoF and SimHQ a huge disservice.
