And when you actually start the career, I get put in a DVII instead of the DVIIF. I would think the D.VIIF's are for the non-noob pilots. Prove yourself within the squadron for a few weeks and I bet you'll get access to them. ....sounds historical to me. *shrug*

I doubt that D.VIIs with D.IIIa engines were ever flying alongside D.VIIs with BMWs. If it did happen, it would have been a very brief liaison.

I think what LukeFF means by "alongside" is that some Jastas had both types available to them. They probably didn't fly together in the same patrol as you say. Hermann Goering mentioned flying patrols with both D.VIIs and D.VIIFs. (I cannot find the quote at the moment, but I know I read it somewhere once before).

If you have gained ranks in one Career you can start a new one from the highest "unlocked" rank. You could use this feature to your benefit, than waiting two "RoF years"...
