Hi all,

Unexpected news, released in a very casual way. Looks like the Korean theatre
is included in World of Planes.

Some new screenshots were released on the World of Planes website today.

So I guess they are developing bigger maps, wont take long to cross 100 miles in a jet, but it does look nice and its an area we haven't seen much of since the good old Mig Alley, be interesting which direction this series goes, be nice if was towards full simulation.

I'm not so sure they will be making bigger maps, during an interview they stated that they didn't think bigger maps were necessary. The smaller maps allow them to make decent terrain, but at a price that IMHO has turned away many from playing the sim. Not having airfields for both sides of the conflict to land was one of the main reasons I don't bother flying WOP anymore.

To quote Gaijin CEO, Anton Yudintsev.

Quote:
We don't think that for a battle focused online game we need bigger maps. However, we are planning bigger maps for the Jet planes.

it's probably going to be mixed in ridiculously like how cold war tanks were mixed in with ww2 tanks in world of tanks.

might be server option like "all eras and theatres" or restricted... I think all-in-one wouldn't be that balanced

I want that 15 now boing

Fortunately, this isn't World of Tanks. This is Gaijin and I'm sure they have it well in hand.
Sounds to me like we may be able to choose from different eras, like the host could set up in WOP/BOP. A room for 1939-1940, another for 1941-1942....and so on.

i agree on what others said about map size. bigger maps and operational airfields are an absolute must for online campaigns
graphically speaking, world of planes seems to represent the next generation of flight sims
while COD looks like a rehashed version of IL2 (the only thing that looks really different is the cockpits)
that being said, we don;t know anything about the FMs yet
they better get that right:)

only my 2 cents
