I know that process is fascinating to lots of people, some simmers included. I've tried. Lord knows I've tried to appreciate it, but I can't when it comes to combat flight sims. Particularly when we haven't had a good one in a decade, and the old ones won't work on our machines. All that BS said, when is this one projected to be ready for primetime?

Either we give a conservative estimate and you're gloomy now or we give an optimistic estimate and you're angry later. Which would you like? smile

Try both, then we can attack you both now and later!

My guess: Too late for the eager early-adopters, too soon for the nitpicky-I-want-it-perfect-day-1 OCD types.

Personally I prefer late and ready to early...Il-2:CloD anyone?

We need a good Apache sim. We do NOT need another buggy alpha, do we?

My opinion, Flex and AD are on track with what they're doing. A phased release schedule allows the community to sink their teeth into the product without the game/sim being in development forever. On the other hand, if they release it before CH has enough substance and bang for your buck, then the excitement and interest in the project may fizzle out, which means further development would be stalled and most likely halted indefinitely. Remember, the Tricubic team needs to make money off of this, otherwise no one wins; the developers or the fans.

Look at how the Army is acquiring the Block 3 Apache, not all of the gadgets they want in it are perfected yet, so they'll add the technologies as they mature, but the Army needs the Block 3 now, not ten years down the road. They'll get their super Apache eventually, but staying in the testing phase for years and years will only drive up the costs, which is what happened with Comanche.

no publishers out there want to release buggy games. It's all about profits just like any business out there, Il2COD was rushed out because UBISoft kept putting money on this project and paying the developers, they got to the point where money isn't available any more so they released it to have some money in their bank account to pay the developers.

In fact i don't mind buggy games at release as long as patches keep coming, take arma2 for instance, i pre-ordered this game knowing that it would be buggy as hell but i have faith knowing that BI would bombard us with patches which is really what's happening, but i would not trust UBI, EA, ACTIVISION and other publishers for their known dark history.

It's always about money, and chasing deadlines.IL2 After half a year still is not playable, the patches do not go,is dead brand.
CH is also delays of over a half years, and will be even more. But I have no doubts as to product quality, what we get, even if it will have a lot of bugs.

I liked the DCS A-10 Beta program and am +1 for other sims to try it. I was amazed at the changes made along the way and still enjoyed playing the early version of the sim even with ctd or other issues...... my 2 cents with change due!
