i posted this on the official site and thought I would post it here as well

ok, some level of success. I noticed on my catalyst settings I had (and always had as far as I know) adaptive anti aisling un checked and anti aisling on full quality. I noticed that the guys who posted thier settings either had mid level or full performance. So I enabled adaptive anit aisling and moved the slider to full performance. That helped. I then started to play around with RoF settings and when I turn shadows off and keep the above setting in Catalyst the stuttering nearly stops. Just a few stutters on take off and then it is smooth. So for me it has gone from a game killer to an annoyance. The above test were all in qmb with a 1 v 1 match up. Frame rates are higher than I have ever seen before and core usage is lower on all 4 and it runs cooler.

Note, the stutters aren't gone and I miss my shadows so I don't consider this a fix, but a step in the right direction.

ROF has in-game anti-aliasing so why would you need to have it enabled in the Catalyst drivers?

Just tested ROF and I don't have any stutters. I'm using an ATI 5850 and I'm running the 11.7 Catalyst drivers. I'm on Win 7 64 bit.

Are the people who do not have stutters have Vsnc on or off?

Vsync off here, Vista home (I think I said xp earlier)
I also turn off steam & windows sidebar etc. in the icon menu.
Don't think that would be it however I always do seem to find a slight performance increase by doing so.

I have it off both in the game and in the drivers.

No stutters here and I have v-sync on even though it shouldn't matter since I have FPS capped at 50. Running Cat 11.8's...rest of my specs in my sig.

Just tried both Spad VII versions -- Ditto here on stutters, which were not present pre-patch.
I haven't had time to test different video settings. The stutters aren't bad, but they're noticeable.

EDIT: Just to add some detail, the stutters were more noticable on the ground, but were also present airborne. Vsync on.
(I'll try changing Shaders from Max to High.)

Other than that, the new Spad seems nice.

cheers

I have stutters more frequently than I used to... I have a CrossfireX system, but currently do not enable it for ROF (That causes more stutters than not). I have v-sync On. ATI user (System specs in sig) with Cat v11.7 drivers with the latest v11.8 CAP 2. I do notice that I get less consistent FPS with this new Patch. Thus my overall average FPS is lower.

I have an Intel i5 processor, 8 GB memory, ATI 5770 and 11.8 Drivers. However, I've got no problems -- with frame rates about like before the patch at 40/50 fps. I don't have super sampling on or v sync on. I've also got it set to 60 FPS limiter with most things set to high but not maximum.

My settings-smooth as glass with absolutely NO stutters.

Only issue is an occasional flash when the sun is low and I'm flying or looking straight at it.

11.8 drivers with the CAP2 Crossfire goodies.

i7 920 (just brought it back down to 3.5 ghz)

12 gig ram (tri-channel)

ATI 5970
