Wow! Look at that terrain, those mountains, the clouds, the sunlight, the shadows, the pilot, THE PILOT, shadows on the pilot! With the core engine (no doubt enhanced) this will be at a glorious 60fps.
I must say, I have been against the idea of having a pilot in the cockpit in past discussions regarding cockpit appearance, but this looks outrageously good. This combined with 6DoF will really add to the sensation of being there with a head attached to that pilot body. Stunning!
Chaps, this is called innovation. Gaijin appear to be doing the impossible.
Roll on September.
Thanks for sharing this MAC Glo

I have long be a protaganist and advocate for having a Pilot body in the cockpit and this shows it is viable. It barely (if at-all) blocks anything that is important to view and adds a great deal of immersion to the sense of 'being there'.
I do hope we get a proper "Wings of Prey 2" for the PC with a Single Player game and this graphics engine. I just live everything visually about Wings of Prey and World of Planes seems to be again advancing the quality.
I wish Cliffs of Dover would take some lessons from the Gaijin Devleopers and consider adding a Pilot as this would make the sense of realism incredible, however hands down Wings of Prey and any sequels have so-much more prowess in the Graphical quality that one assumes that other sims are happy to keep baching away at what they know rather than try and progress. Excellent effort Gaijin and thanks for listening to your customers suggestions....I wonder if a Bailing out sequence would also include an animation showing the clambering from the seat and legs and body tumbling before the Parachute opens....it is this kind of detail that shows a level of understanding that most Developer's sem to ignore.
Cheers, MP

I hope the maps are large enough this time for both sides to have airfields.

I hope the maps are large enough this time for both sides to have airfields. Although I don't agree with the ridiculous exaggeration often made by some that the maps are 'postage-stamp-sized', I do agree that they could be bigger for the purpose you describe. T/O and landing with flak cover to take care of the opportunistic vulchers. Distance allowing flight time of 5-10 minutes to gain alt and position where the fighting is, thus keeping it action oriented. I personally was never one for flying for 20-30 minutes on IL-2 dogfight servers before seeing any action. I imagine the focus with WoPlanes will be similarly action based that will not require great expanses to be covered, but hopefully big enough for opposing airfields. With the different theatres involved we can be sure there will be plenty of variety in location/maps too. Nothing stopping the Devs producing later, larger maps if the demand is there or perhaps releasing a kit for community development somewhere down the line? Glo

GloDark - did the beta start yet? The number of aircraft and the pacific theatre shown in the screens looks pretty sweet. I know not. I have only been back in the UK for a couple of days after returning from my holidays and have been following the news more than I have been sat at my PC. This place has gone absolutely crazy as I'm sure you're aware. Wish I'd stayed in Ireland. Glo

Personally I think they should stop selling those hooded tops in Asda, as that would solve the problem.

Thanks for sharing this MAC Glo I love how you forgot to mention the game is only going to be a snooze fest 16 vs. 16. But what do you expect from a company that builds console games?

I hope the maps are large enough this time for both sides to have airfields. Better to have smaller maps on a working engine, then bigger maps on a broken engine.

SsSnake, MAC, FF, Céad Mile Fáilte! Had a great time thanks. 10 days in Galway. The missus has family there who she hasn't seen for a long time, who I had never met. Lovely bunch of people. Amazing sense of community there. Everyone knows everyone, and they all look out for each other. Staggering contrast to life where I live. Stayed in a cottage surrounded by fields, hand-built stone walls, no street lights and roads with no names. The postmen there have a sixth sense! I won't go into great detail about my time there but we did a lot of travelling. 2 particular highlights. One clear night at the end of the holiday, an amazing star-filled sky without light pollution. Never seen a sky like that before with the naked eye. Could even pick out the subtle glow of the Milky Way. Something I've always wanted to see. Another highlight was the flight. Flew in a ATR-72, twin-engine turboprop which was just great (I don't fly often!). Descending through the clouds over the River Shannon was breath-taking and I couldn't help but be reminded of WoP. I had deja vu! Testimony to the visual realism of WoP Thanks for the concern FF, MAC. I have stayed away from the City during the trouble, which I think is pretty much over now. Good to see the courts fast-tracking those little tu*ds. There is some disparity with the sentencing but at least they are being dealt with... Back on topic, I assume the Alpha testing has either been postponed or abandoned? Isn't the beta supposed to begin next month...? Screens are great but I hope we can see some video too... Glo
