Looks like fun. Hopefully people will turn out to see it.

Unfortunately, it is hard these days to strike the right balance between historical accuracy and schmaltz. After Tora Tora Tora, schmaltz has been the order of the day for Hollywood aerial combat movies.

I would like to see something in the style of "Bridge Too Far" done for the air war in Europe, great balance between accuracy, story telling and star power.

It might look good on a big screen but besides being an obvious cheese feat I'm getting tired of these non interactive video games that are most CGI movies.

Yeah I sort of got that impression too. That is BS, the Tuskegee Airmen were good but they weren't the only ones who were good. I don't believe it should be necessary to put down all other ETA fighter pilots just to tell the Tuskegee story.

Hell, it has war planes in it ! I will watch it anyways. Who cares about all this criticism about historical accuracy.

It's so PeeCee though! Besides don't U.S. films with a majority of ethnic characters get some kind of substancial tax break?

I thought we're in post-racial America? Didn't we elect a black muslim from Kenya president? That was a joke!!!!

Racial hatred and bigotry exists in every country. Ours has a real nasty history of slavery and Jim Crow behind it unfortunately which is hard to wash off, but I just wish some folks would turn their attention to racial problems in other countries for a change and paste their racist labels on other nations. Like until France elects an Arab immigrant Premiere or Britian elects a Jamacian immigrant Prime Minister or a Jew Chancellor of Germany. As far as I'm concerned America is ahead of the racial debate curve and much less bigoted than people say we are.

Regardless of your political slant, without guys like the Tuskegee Airmen, Barrack Obama would not have become President. And their story should be told as its a great inspirational story for ALL Americans. Overcoming adversity and judging a man by the content of his character, not the color of his skin is what America is all about.

One of the seemingly perpetual myths about the 332nd is that they never lost a bomber under their escort. However, it seems that as maybe as high as 25 bombers were lost while escorted by the group:

An uneasy question for the Tuskegee Airmen

Granted, it doesn't diminish what the men accomplished under the circumstances in which they found themselves, but nonetheless fact needs to be separated from fiction.

I guess that shouldn't surprise us since it was produced by Lucasarts. wink

Absolutely. Once people start doing that for the purpose of embellishing the accomplishments of a certain group then a huge disservice is done to ALL.

Besides the usual Hollywood pathos and StarWars-y CGI action, every movie featuring B-17s, Mustangs, 109s and 262s is per definition awesome.

biggrin

I liked the original Tuskagee Airmen movie, so if this remake doesn't totally rape the subject I'll certainly watch it.

One thing I'm VERY curious about but will never know the answer to is why Lucas ordered so many reshoots for the film. What was it that he didn't like?

Well didn't he re-release the Star Wars franchise with better effects and sound? He does have a reputation for being a perfectionist.

At least Germany had Walther Rathenau , a Jewish Foreign Minister of Germany 1922 , during the Weimar Republic. He was later assassinated.

Um and let's not forget Margaret Thatcher, the first female British PM.

Worst CGI I've seen in a while. I've seen better in movies from 1998.

Also, like others have said, the sky is big and planes are small.

But I will watch the movie anyway smile

In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!

I kept watching the trailer wondering when Ben Afleck would pop in.

The producers felt it was more important to give Cuba Gooding Jr. the job. He needs the work.
