04/21/2013 UPDATE: Our Squadron is not recruiting new members at this time.

The “Black Knights” are a U.S.-based virtual squadron that has been active for over 8 years. We’re a mature group of dedicated virtual and real-world pilots who enjoy cooperative, mission-focused combat flight simming. Our squadron's resume of flight sims include such classics as Janes F/A-18, the IL-2 series, Lock-On, Flaming Cliffs, and DCS Black Shark. The squadron is currently flying DCS A-10C.

Squadron members design our own elaborate missions and campaigns featuring realistic depictions of historical battles as well as fictional ‘what if’ scenarios. They all share a singular focus on cooperative, squadron vs AI combat.

Until recently, a private, by-invitation only squadron, the “Black Knights” are now accepting pilot candidate applications online to fill a limited number of openings in the squadron. Candidates should own and have the dedication to fly “DCS A-10C” cooperatively on a regular basis with the squadron. Candidates must also agree to a checkride with the squadron’s Training Officer to assess proficiency.

The Black Knights typically fly their sorties on Monday nights, starting with the mission brief at 20:30 CDT. For more information on joining the Black Knights Squadron, please visit our website.

U.S.
It should be noted that even if you pass an initial qualifying flight that if after a time your kill ratio is deemed as too low you will be tossed from the squadron without prior notice or any official training offered. This was my experience which was very disappointing difficult to understand. That being said, the BKs are a good squadron which I was very pleased to be a part of while it lasted. They only flew once a week when I was with them offering a coordinated mission that members take turns creating.
