No SimHQ review of Cliffs of Dover? The US release came out over a week ago and their is still no review published on the SimHQ site. Now considering how fast SimHQ is able to review other games, one has to wonder why no honest review yet? We have the glorious unrwapping of the box and then a how to install guide and then... Nothing, not a peep. Not a, "This is the greatest game ever" or "This is a dog." So is there an uber patch you are waiting for that the developers claim will fix before you release a review?
The fact that Jason from RoF has talked openly about the possibility of developing a WW2 sim makes one wonder just how many people in the know, realised Oleg had dropped the ball on this one

You basically only come to SimHQ to post that the site is morally suspect. What gives?
Okay, I know i must be totally out of the loop and if this forum was suffering from the same problems as the bananna one I can sort of understand... But why require a login to read about a flight sim. If it's because of the bad vibe directed at Clod from those who have played it then that smacks of commercialism. Right before the US release all negative comment is removed from easy access. This being one of the few sites I as a potential purchaser would have visited before buying any simulation game. While I could not give a rats arse about Clod (I own it and it will get better over time) I am concerned that SimHQ may have set a precident. In appearing to protecting Clod they may have harmed their own reputation. Deleteing the odd thread is one thing but making the entire Clod forum dissappear to anyone not login is extreme at best and the timing is well, at best suspect. I trust i am over reacting and all is well in simland
I'm not speaking officially for SimHQ here, but I think its fair to assume that the review isn't here yet because:
- It only just came out in the US, where SimHQ is based. - It is going to be a joint review between two guys, from what we were told. It takes time for two people to come to conclusions and then have to write up an article between one another. - Cliffs of Dover is a fairly complex game with systems that the reviewers have spend time to learn before being able to comment on them.
Sure by the time the review is finished an update may come out which might influence the final verdict, but I'm sure they will bring up the state of the game before and after while coming to a fair conclusion about the state of the game and its future.

Sorry, you are right. But the only reason is that I rely on reviews from SimHQ when making purchases. Clod is the only simulation game I have ever purchased that I have not read the SimHQ review first in the last five years. As you can see I have not many posts, 12 counting this one. That however does not mean I do not read the forums and review. But you are right, the last two posts are negative. My concern has nothing to do with Clod but SimHQ if that makes sense.

And quite a few of your posts, Freycinet, are apparently only to point that some members here are morally suspect (Tree, myself and others etc). What gives?
Personally, I think it's always poor form for a long-standing member (albeit one who announced he'd quit, and then promptly returned) to attack a new member. I think I've done it myself once, but it was a bad idea and generally stinks (I dont do it now).
I have to say, I still find your posts full of a peculiar sort of nastiness. The factual ones are fine, but some others strike me as mainly vindictive and thinking-the-worst of people.
I dont think having this separate sub--forum has addressed these sort of posts fromyou at all, which I think is a shame. But what's going off-topic. The question of when SimHQ will post its review is a fair one. I dont read anything into why not yet - reviews take time, I've reviewed flight-sim stuff myself - but I can see why people want to know.
If people want to ask, that's fine IMO. That last time I looked, you were not a moderator.

[Re: Bobb4]
a little birdie told me the review is coming. There is a lot of stuff in the game that needs digging into and all of that takes time. It is a review by a flight sim site on a complex flight sim, not a teen gamer site reviewing a 16 level Xbox Combat Ace or HAWX 2.
Patience is a virtue, good things come to people who wait etc.
EDIT: I just got a PM from one of the reviewers. The holdup is due to the fact they cannot seem to beat the BOSS in level 11 (looks like a bug in the game that makes level 11 un-winnable). So until then, hold on to your horses.

Yep, I'm working on my slice of the review.
The opinions of this poster are largely based on facts and portray a possible version of the actual events.

You are allowed your opinion, negative or positive. The fanboys are mad that you do not heap praise and you call it Clod instead of CoD. They check all your posts to discredit you. Its creepy.

Yeah, that Adolf on level 11 is like some kind of uberboss, isn't he?
Wait, I just checked the strategy guide . . . it says you have to kick him in the ball.

Ouch, I hate this term, you see I really do not know what a fanboys is. I worry I maybe a fanboys and do not know what I"m supposed to do.
Fanboy/fangirl
Fanboy is a term used to describe a male who is highly devoted and biased in opinion towards a single subject or hobby within a given field.
Well yeah, that’s pretty much what the term has come to mean. Overall it’s a much nicer term than the word “hater”, used to describe anyone who dissents or criticizes the subject or hobby concerned. One fellow poster suggested the word “detractor” which is someone better, but I would prefer a word that says I am a fan of the game or hobby concerned, and somewhat loyal, but also a critic. “Fanboy” is much like a political term.. There are conservatives and liberals. Some fanboys readily will say they are a fanboy and are not touchy about it. That’s ok. Other fanboys don’t like it.. That’s ok. Maybe they are something else not yet named. I may be a fanboy myself. I don’t think I can get away with calling myself one because I am too much of a critic, so I have to wear one of the other terms. Such is life in forum land. Maybe I am just a “fan” but not a “fanboy” . I consider that a possibility from following professional sports teams. If you live in an area where there is sports talk radio, give it a listen and hear the “fans” call in. These are people that love their team mind you. And the things they say would make the most ferocious “hater” in this forum seem tame.

It was right of SimHQ to wait for the North American version -- only out for 8 days now, officially.
It matters not if the North American version is no different than the version folks were playing previously -- as there was no sure way to know that in advance.
Anyhow, I have my copy as of Monday. So, I have my own opinions now.
Nonetheless, the SimHQ guys will look a lot deeper than I have. Thus, their review will be interesting to me

Good post commorange, and very astute observations.
Obviously I have to read a lot of posts here and I'm still amazed by the energy put in both ways. I too think the nearest thing I've seen where people can sometimes forget perspectives so much is like sports fans. I remember sitting watching the hockey, only to see the city that I live in then (pathetically, a tiny minority) riot as they cried over the game 7 result. After a while the 'sport' becomes a backdrop and the 'fan' bit (whether supporting or hating) becomes the real hobby.
Having grown up in the UK and gone to lot of football/soccer matches in the 1980's it certainly makes this place seem relaxed in comparison. SimHQ: Total people stabbed today - 0!
As for the topic - Dart and Tom are busy doing the articles with the US releases they have now but I don't know an ETA - sorry.
Now considering how fast SimHQ is able to review other games,
I rarely come here, heck this might be my second time... really... but I saw the title and read the first post, and had to laugh... My Q. to the poster... what review has SimHQ EVER done under 2 weeks of release... maybe there is one that I'm unaware of... but heck I don't think I've ever submitted a REVIEW under 1 month of release... heck I'm still working on Combat Missions: Battle for Normandy... and that was, what 4 to 6 weeks ago... maybe more.
I think that statement just might be part fairy tale friend.

lol - but does Combat Missions: Battle of Normany have a six year running drama of intrigue, corruption and conspiracy theories? Welcome to the CloD party Magnum, pick up a glass of crazy on your way in...
I think the original poster already has his mind up on whether to buy the sim or not considering his statement about Oleg dropping ball. Or maybe the review will help Oleg pick it up, lol.
