I see Cliffs of Dover like a fantastic novel that an author abandoned before finishing. New writers came in to finish his story, not fully understanding the original vision and without the ability to weave magic into it's words like the author could. It become flat and empty with characters undeveloped and plot holes everywhere.

For the story to work the author must finish it.

This may disrespectfully sound like I have no faith in Luthier and co. Not much I'm afraid after the US release that I expected to have a different version number at least.

Can they not at the least bring Oleg back as a consultant? Has his ship completely sailed?

Oleg has gone, what comes next is questionable, Luthier is trying his best to steady a rocking ship but to me hes out of his depth. Some of the old IL2 team are still there but they seem to have lost their way, and had no clear direction for some years and COD shows it.

Some parts of COD seem to have been finished years ago and have skill and polish all over them, i.e the aircraft models, cockpits and ground models(Oleg?)
while some parts seem to have been rushed, look shoddy and unfinished ie the landscape, sound and GUI(the new team?)
I think if they make enough cash from COD then their next product will be better, but i dont hold out much hope for COD unless it gets a major overhaul from the ground up.

Please Frey, it's a discussion forum. Unless you want to contribute then it's not worth interrupting what others want to discuss here.

Frey, that is the purpose of this forum! If you find it tiring it is just as easy to not read the thread.

The problem with the World is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

Ok, then I'll let loose and "contribute": I think Oleg must have left because Luthier - behind his back - contacted the Ubi board of directors to usurp Olegs position. Luthier was secretly sabotaging Olegs efforts so he could come in from the left and take over. Yes, that is definitely how it was! Oh, and Spitgirl? - Obviously that girl from Accounts that Luthier secretly had a crush on. She wanted a bigger role.

Sounds silly? - Yeah, just as silly as the rest of the dribble coming from the usual suspects.

This is a discussion forum and I have a right to think this discussion is silly and uninformed in the extreme, just as well as others have a right to talk nonsense about things they don't know anything about.

Frey, You moaned about this sort of thread in the other forum cos you said you didn't want to read it and have it clog up the forum.
Now you still want to come in and read it and post about it here.

I dont get want you want??

Do you want this forum to just be about what YOU want? and to only have your rules???

You talk about a agenda jeez! are you related to Luthier or something?

Please, for everyone's sake dont ever become a MOD.

Many people have made the effort to be a bit mroe civil, and not stir the pot quite as much.

Get used to it, everybody is allowed an opinion. My opinion is that uninformed guesswork accompanied by constant maligning of the developers is BS.

What I did in my first posting in this thread was merely to ask if it wasn't tiring to keep posting uninformed conjectures? I seem to have really hit a sore spot since what I wrote could elicit such a defensive and ill-humoured response. Carry on with your time-wasting excercise but don't expect everybody to sit and clap their hands and think it is frightfully clever.

That maybe Frey, but are your saying we should not be allowed to voice that view?

No, please feel free to waste your time, I'm just happy you cannot do it in the worthwhile forum.

I think you guys are missing the big picture, and if you think about it the explanation is fairly obvious on retrospect.

Aliens.

(I'll say no more, as they are watching, but the clues are all there).

I think that Oleg did a runner because he found out somebody on this forum is his love child, I cant imagine who? Obviously this is pure speculation, and not an insult, in fact if true its a great honor.

Wasn't said love child bemoaning the "trolling" that was being done in the main forum. Now it appears they are trolling the extended discussions forum. Please allow me to quote from a great movie,

"We accept you, one of us. We accept you, one of us. Gooble Gobble. One of us."
