There's no reason those planes can't just be AI. The only thing that wouldn't need to be modeled would be the cockpit.
In saying that, if you're going to do it why not go the whole way
Jason has said repeatedly that it's not the cockpit that takes the most time in modeling a plane. Rather, it's the flight model.
And besides that, we know the R.E.8 is coming sometime this year.
