Yep, same experience but without the DVD for me.

Haven't got to the sim part yet, still playing the Optimization and HOTAS settings mini-games.

LOL on the track title for the fps challenge one - "Black Death" indeed!

Well, they did release more or less the exact same version in April, so there's that in terms of warning I guess. I agree the info has been confusing in the run-up to the US release (or NCSA 'North, Central, South America's as they put it).

Is there nothing printed on any of the material that comes with the box, i.e. an inset or something? Might be worth an email to Gamersgate if they sold you the DVD first.

I bought and downloaded the game from Gamersgate. There is no dvd or box. I got an email from GG, but it doesn't have the product code that I need to activate the game on Steam. I have a message/inquiry into GG, and hopefully will get a satisfactory reply (and a product code) in a reasonable amount of time. Somebody sure is dropping the ball here.

And I still think that is was pretty sneaky the way Steam was slipped in on us. Once burned, twice shy.

It's not a "feature" that's well-publicized by the websites that are selling the game. Now if I could just find out where to find my Product Code so that I can activate the game on Steam. Does Steam really have any other purpose other than to aggrevate gamers? I should be able to install the game on my machine and play it and not have to deal with this Steam insanity (which adds nothing to the game).

You are right.
For me Steam is the reason not to install it. The last time I installed Steam it messed up my Windows installation... frown
Besides that... I do not want to be depending upon a 3rd party.

Vienna, 2nd rock left.
I think if it wasn't for Steam I would already be owning the game and be highly annoyed at what seems to be a considerable lack of other features. So Steam saved me some money.

So instead I'll wait for the patches to flow and by then there'll be a No-Steam "fix" around I can then use on my legitimate copy. It's already been cracked in the current version, but what's the point if it's mostly buggy?

I saw TAGES reference on the pack and nothing on the DVD case. Don't think its a stretch to believe the former was used and not Steam. I thought they had to reference Steam on the package. Far as I know, there has never been an acknowledgement exactly what was included for the DVD CP/DRM.

Digital Download? Go into your Steam Account management and the Product Code should be there under your games.

If you got the DVD, it is on a sheet inside the case.

Perhaps the insert on the DVD case is such an old design that it was made for the US launch before Steam was even added to the game.

That would make sense for alot of reasons.

Thanks for your reply.

I got this game by digital download from Gamersgate. When I go to Steam I do not see anything actually labeled Acount Management. When I go to my games CoD is not there. Steam requires a Product Code to activate CoD. Right now Steam doesn't even recognize the existence of CoD in my account, let alone have a Product Code for it. I've run the installation file from Gamersgate many, many times and when I get to the Steam screen it asks for the product code -- and I have no product code anywhere. That's IT: Dead End -- Period. I've tried Gamersgate support, but haven't received a reply from them.

Steam should be outlawed (I really mean that).

I haven`t shopped at Gamergate for ages, so it is just one idea:

Do you have some sort of account there? Could it be possible, that the code is stored there? This is how Aerosoft is doing it.

Just a shot in the wild though.

edit: The German DVD had a sheet with the code too.

The cd-key for the game should be under your games list on your Gamersgate account. Normally there's a button you have to press to reveal the cd-key for the first time.

I have an account/logon there and all my games from there are listed. The "codes" for those games that have them are listed with each game title, but CoD has none. Thanks for the reply.

There's a list of my games in my logon. The "codes" for those games that have them are shown in plain sight under each title. I don't think that there are any buttons, but I'll check again. Thanks for the reply.

I think its a recent feature since GamersGate added in the ability to gift games. When you buy a game you have the option to gift it to someone, but if you reveal the cd-key the game is associated to your account.

Yeah,

then the fault is at Gamersgate. Steam can`t "know" you have purchased CoD until you enter your key.

edit: Curious,

maybe you should open a new thread asking the guys who bought there.

Gamersgate finally put up an activation code for CoD on their website. And those of us who bought it on the 19th only had to wait four days for it. Not especially professional on GG's part.

kilosierra, when I posted here I also opened two new threads asking the guys who at GG if they were having the same problem.

Anyway, thanks to everyone who replied to my plea for help.
