Is there anyway to set autorudder? I have the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro and I hate the twist rudder feature since I accidentally twist it when I don't mean to. I have the HOTAS Warthog on the way but no rudder pedals for it either.

I'm used to flying planes in Flight Simulator X. These aircraft really need rudder input when turning: they obviously don't turn right if you don't use rudder (or autorudder). In the Warthog however, I don't have that feeling. I'm not using any rudder and the plane seems to turn okay. So, the only thing I use rudder for is for takeoff and landing.

Anyway, as far as I know there's no autorudder, which makes sense since it doesn't seem to be needed for regular flying.

Weird I use autorudder in FSX and they seem to turn better in that game than the A-10 does. I roll the A-10 for a turn and doesn't seem turn at all whereas in FSX I roll the planes and they turn easily.

From talking to our real A-10C pilots at my base, they don't really use the rudders either in flight.

The Warthog doesn't turn easily smile But it turns alright without rudder.

Maybe you should increase your axis sensitivity tho.

IIRC the pitch/yaw SAS on the Warthog will "autorudder" for you up to a certain degree. But I've never found the need to use the rudder in flight, even when doing a guns strafe.

Interesting. I find I need to step on the ball quite a bit during turns and rolls.

I use the rudder mainly during take-off and landing and during break turns. In "normal" flying I hardly use it at all.

Occasional bit of rudder either in a cross-wind landing or maybe to line up the cannon on a bad pass. I've gone whole flights without stepping on much now I come to think of it.

Such a great sim btw.

I'll have to see how she handles when I get my new controller and see if I can control the plane better.

I know a lot of real world pilots that don't use the rudder enough (and should). We like to call them flat-footed:)

The A-10 demonstrates quite a bit of adverse yaw, at least in the sim, and can definitely use coordination. Particularly at slow speeds and high AoA.
