I know that you had headaches about what to do and when to do it. And I assume that you had headaches concerning the step you took, finally. You gave slack since you believed in the human nature, freedom of speech and democracy, I assume. You took a bold step. But given the very special situation you faced, you did the right thing. At least, this is my honest opinion.

The idea is to keep the different topics (see the forum headers) in their appropriate forums. This system will only work if we are able to catch off-topic posting in threads - before the off-topics take over. If you see off-topic posts in either forum - feel free to let us know.

Threads with a lot of mixed posts will have to be locked. If we catch the off-topic posts early, we can prevent this.

I think this solution is good - as it doesn't mean banning topics or individuals (beyond what already existed in the ToS). At the same time it gives everyone a chance to continue the discussions that interest them most in their own space. We'll see if it works.
