Until I finally get to play Cliffs of Dover!

I'm hoping the game will be in a somewhat more polished state since I've heard a few patches have already been released for it.

Eegads, this is frightening prospect, we could experience a whole new wave of conspiracy theorists, whiners and dislikers at this forum

Might be a good time to get out of Dodge. smile

I'm looking forward to it, mostly because my expectations have always been somewhat grounded.

This is what I'm expecting:

Graphics: Gorgeous! Can't wait until I upgrade in five years to put everything to max with decent frame rates.
FM/DM: Incredibly detailed and eye poppingly good. Except where it isn't - then it's laughably wrong.
Campaign: What part of 1C: Maddox do you not understand?
Mission builder: Intuitive, detailed, easy to use. And you will use it. See Campaign.
AI: See FM/DM

The opinions of this poster are largely based on facts and portray a possible version of the actual events.

LOL Dart.

Well, I consider myself a pretty patient gamer. If I managed to stick around with WWII Online after its disasterous debut until it was patched to an acceptable level of playability, I can do put up with anything else. smile

I too eagerly await the U.S. release... I've had it preordered from Amazon since March! I've been willing to wait, well mainly because of all of the negative press I've read in regards to the state at release. I too remember the WW2 Online debut, I was in the Beta and let me tell you I was SHOCKED they released it to the public in the state that they did.

Don't listen whiners. The game is absolutely fantastic in its current state. The best looking game I have ever seen. The lack of content, planes if more precisely, is only serious drawback. All those bugs people grumble about are so minor you would hardly notice them until someone point them to you.

I'm not too worried about that since it will take a me a good while to become proficient with the planes that are currently in the game and I'm sure we'll have expansions later on for other theatres like the Pacific, North Africa, Eastern Front, etc.

PM, once you are in the air and flying you will immediately feel at home because of your experience in IL-2 1946. There are differences of course, but I predict that proficiency in handling and gunnery will come a little easier to you than you might expect. As for advanced engine management, I couldn't say because like in IL-2 1946 I don't bother with it.

Oh, as far as I can tell, you have to open the canopy before trying to bail.

Oh, speaking of patience - as long as the developers keep at it I am okay. When devs prematurely abandon the product and leave it to the mod community, I might lose patience.

I have had the game for a while and it has improved over three small patches, I have heard that another one may be released today, we'll see. I ordered mine through Just Flight and downloaded through Steam after fudging my address to the UK (lol) It took a while for me to create a workable stick profile which is still a WIP so plan on learning to fly again it's worth it.

I have notched up just over 140 hours in game, almost exclusively in Spits and Hurris, full CEM, still great fun even though I know that the FM needs some work.

Despite the problems (you might have caught a few of the subtle hints at them on some of the forums ;)) it is a great sim with huge potential, especially given it's amazing attention to detail.

Dart's expectations are about bang on apart from the AI, it's better when it's good and utterly astoundingly bad when it isn't skyisfalling

Thursday was my 'flight night'. I turned the computer on,set up my Fighterstck, pedals, throttle and TiR.Plugged the headphones in.Hovered the mouse icon over the CoD shortcut for a few seconds.
Thought 'meh' and put everything away again, went down and watched tv instead. This is a slight contrast to il2 that at one point I was playing up to 40 hours a week regularly.
Don't panic about any delays, the longer it takes hopefully the better it will get.

Did Luthier not state that the sound code has been fixed in the last update(meet the team), it is the sounds themselves that have not been finished i.e recording a sound to match every event. Hopefully there is a sound studio somewhere in Moscow that has been getting loads of overtime in over the last month or so to get them ready for Tuesday.
Wishful thinking? I hope not!

"We are redoing our sound from scratch. It is proceeding at a better pace than expected. Its already in a working alpha state, and everyone loves it. The only thing that makes it an alpha is that a lot of events do not play sounds yet. 95% of the remaining work is simply adding new samples." From the July 1st update.

Lets hope the fix isn't far away. Just lets not call "no sound" a minor bug though eh?

From where I'm sitting, as it stands, it's pretty good (don't play MP). It is absolutely incredibly brilliant where it gets things right, but it is far from getting everything right. I'd say they are about one large, or maybe two smaller, patches away from what would have been an *acceptable* 1.0 release.
