Excellent stuff, love the pilot animation too, absolutely seamless.
"Tiger got to hunt, bird got to fly; Man got to sit and wonder, 'Why, why, why?' Tiger got to sleep, bird got to land; Man got to tell himself he understand." - A calypso.
OK, some people are actually coming into this thread and rating it DOWN! - I just gave it five stars, but I guess some just cannot accept that, since it is now down to three stars. I guess they think the movie is crap. Man, you really have to be a sorry chap to do that... Usual suspects no doubt.
So, just trying to say that, if you think this video is worth it, why not rate the thread with five stars? - This is one of the most amazing sim movies I've ever seen.
Great video. I only like the game original colors more. Perhaps they wanted to make a kind of retro "cinematic" look, not sure but it kills a half of the game beauty.
The “Battle of Britain-The Day Before Adlertag” movie produced by “Barfly/Jokerxx” has been selected for showcasing at the Flight Sim Movies website where the Best of the Best FlightSim movies are presented and celebrated. It is hoped that in the very near future many great stories of the Battle of Britain will be told in movies created using COD.
Congratulations Barfly!!!
P.S. Barfly's "Battle of Britain V2.0" was also recognized and placed at FSM in November 2009.

My thoughts exactly. I'd love to know how he did those amazing pilot animations! - There are just some references to a program I never heard about in the credits.
Yeah, snapper, voting down this movie thread... I mean, what? - Tells you a lot about how sad the haters are.
5 stars from me, even tho the music was a bit annoying, and I wished it was done at early morning or late afternoon, and that the trees had been set to 'high'. The "Forest Green" mod ground texture doesn't look good without a lot of trees on it.

Well i gave it 5 stars, but then again im not a 'hater' of CLOD, in fact i dont know anyone who 'hates' CLOD, I mean how can anyone hate a PC game?? However I immensly disapprove of the whole disception pre-release and find the game annoyingly bad, but 'hate' no i dont 'hate' it.

Eagle Dynamics was smart - they released DCS-A10C as a beta-for-purchase and were very upfront about it. It ran like crap on my system initially, but having purchased it as a "beta" I couldn't really gripe about it but just report the glitches. Several patches later it was deemed "retail" and it now runs smoothly and it's very stable on my PC.
It probably goes against Ubisoft's policy to release "betas" as such, but at least purchasers would go in with the full expectation that all is not finished and to expect that the sim is still a work-in-progress.
I haven't played IL2 in over a year. I forgot how old it looks. LOL. Requiem is a great piece of film. Conceptually I like it. It tells a unique story, but I don't find the editing engrossing. The choice to use Aaron Neville's Ave Maria was interesting and works quite well.
There was one great IL2 video I remember watching, but I can't recall the title. In one scene there were two pilots battling in a horizontal scissors. As the planes passed each other the view would shift from one plane's cockpit (an I-16?) to the other (a BF-109). At first it was like, WTF? Then it was a stroke of editing genius. I really enjoyed that clip.
It could even have been one of Dart's online battles edited down. He used to do some fun clips.

think i remember watching that Knightgames, dam...what was it called?
I'm recalling more details of it and the more I do it seems it was a Dart production. I may have even copied it to disc. The opening has the allies approaching the water (Kuban map?). They are flying low along the ground when the final hill suddenly breaks away to reveal the ocean and the oncoming enemies. If memory serves me it was P-40s and LaGGs verses Me-109s and possibly an FW or two. This was a long time ago.
I'm going to see if I still have it on CD. I may have thrown it out in the great purge. If I have it I'll see if it was in fact Dart's... and try to upload it. (If Dart object I understand.)

Thanks you again and FSM community and all CoD fans - and right, I'm the same guy who once make also a few IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 + mods short films in YouTube, as you has already been guessed.
Hope so also CoD team is able to correct some graphics problems - I mean, mainly primary shadow effect flicker problems. But anyway big thanks of course also CoD devoloper team (patches have come at a good pace). I waiting this great new sim long time, like many others il-2 series fans to here.
Yes, I make more CoD / BoB short film fun in near future.
And if someone want to see also the orginal video (better full HD quality) so this can download it here.
Fantastic, loved the flyby shake view, we don't happen to have that ingame do we? he he
Yeah, that was great. However, what is remarkable is that Barfly actually used very few video editing tricks. This is pretty much how CoD actually looks. He only used the shake cam and a few focusing edits here and there. Only big addition was those fabulous pilot animations, but you won't see those when you yourself sit in the cockpit...
i thought the vid was good, not great..but good. 3 stars

Great clip, with some very nice angles.Dramatic music always helps to elevate what is happening.
One of my faves is still Bratya/Brother.The stalingrad story about the two brothers, one on the ground and one in the air, combines CoD and IL2.The sequences and editing are nowhere as near as good as Come with Me or the above posted clip, but the story he (mrvh?) is getting across in the movie is really well done the music fits nicely.
Another i really liked was I Promise.Great story and some epic scenes with a sad ending.
The Raf 662 recruitment movie was really done as well, plenty of action and very dramatic. When the 190's enter it is like oooh here come the wolves! Was probably the only one (imo) that worked well with the Hans Zimmer pirates of the caribean theme music which got flogged to death for a while by movie makers.
Come with me,Brother,raf662 and I promise are the ones i will show people to give them the gist of what a sim is about.

Several of Dart's videos were uploaded by abadgaem last year. It might be one of the those that he uploaded that you are trying to find. http://www.youtube.com/user/abadgaem
Dart knows about it. This comment of his is in the channel comments area.

Those are all top-notch movies which have stood the test of time...(All were made in 2004/2005)....and remain very impressive and enjoyable.
However, they were surpassed by quite a few movies over the ensuing years....by the inclusion along with music soundtracks of in-game sound, special fx, dialogue, Mods, etc. and, most importantly, well developed screenplays/stories. The biggest weakness of all the literally thousands of youtube IL-2 videos, and now hundreds of youtube COD videos, is the lack of any emotional engagement or "Stories".
The link to BBlokes Database website is an excellent comprehensive resource....but for viewing the very best movies without sorting through all the chaff, FSM is the place to go. I would especially recommend "Pictures of War (2005), "Not My Time to Die" (2007), "The Desert Dogfighter" (2008), "Storm of War" (2008) "Battle of Britain" (2009), "I Flew for the Fuhrer" (2009), and "An Irish Airman Foresees His Death" (2010)...and, of course, the epic one-hour long "Faith, Hope, and Charity" (2007). Each of these movies was awarded at least one Silver or GoldOleg Award for special recognition and achievement.

I remember pictures of war , Monty Dan i think and not my time to die,the p47 v 190 based on the true story , both really cool but they never engaged me like the ones i mentioned. The others ones you stated above i have yet to watch , the work that goes on in these productions never ceases to blow me away.
I got to 'meet' MRVH at Hyperlobby a few years ago and thank him for the enjoyment i got out of his Brother and I Promise minimovies over the years , was cool to be able to yak for a few minutes and thank him.

What so you think your opinion is more important than his, this post isnt funny, as the person you are trying to put down(not very sucessfully either) has an opinion that is just as valid as yours, personally I agree with him.

For me nothing will ever beat 'Come With Me' but this one is brilliant.
I agree %100 with this, that was a great movie, but the new graphics really improve the feeling of reality, when CoD finally takes over from IL2 we really should see some great work, cant wait.

Epic! Nothing but admiration for Barfly and the likes for seeing the potential CoD has to make these great short movies. And to be able to edit it in such an gripping way. With Pulse a lot of cinematic techniques and effects have been used to edit CoD scenes into a piece of art. This movie Is more a true to live depiction that is not comparable with the former but gets it strength out of the genuine scenes this game produces. The pallet of the artist contained a lot less cinematic tools and to be able to produce such an telling and gripping movie that way makes it stand out on its own imo.

"personally I agree with him."
and that's why you whined.
It is far from the best work I have seen on COD and I will explain why.
Far to many overdone titles.
A person that does this is essentially saying... "Hay look at me people, look at me! Isn't my little movie so damn awesome that I have to remind you by throwing in a lot of totally awesome titles in it all the time.
You see this in little low budget films a lot where someone managed to scrap just enough money together to make their "masterpiece".
Far far to much overused dramatic music.
See explanation one only with music this time
A story line that basically taken from every BOB ww 2 film ever seen in that it show no originality.
German bombers attack England..Raf fighter base gets attacked, Raf fighters scramble..some individual air combat footage.
Lastly the credits. See number one again.
Good execution but a very boring overused plot
Little to no imagination whatsoever used here.
before you whine and complain I have written movie "shooting scripts" and written some actual TV productions.
I do know a bit from whence I speak.
I posted that little cartoon jab above because far too many people throw out far too many WAY over the top complements far far to easily IMO
It hurts my eyes and ears.
Realize this before you start your customary defensive bleatings.
Artistic Compliments without including Criticisms are essentially meaningless.

No 'bleatings' old chap - but you seem oddly reluctant to take any criticism of your work while dishing it out...
This goes for your screenshot art mumblings as well. If you have written The Wire, directed Gladiator or are aviation artist of the calibre of Michael Turner - then I might be be more inclined to listen to your points. Incidently are you a member of GAVA? I'm pretty sure a lot of their paintings would not pass muster with you either...
At the end of the day - this is 'flightsim' forum - flying the sim is the main thing, movie making/screenshort art is just icing on the cake.
Our standards are thus slightly different. If that movie had been produced by James Cameron, with a $100m budget and 10 years - you might have a point. But for a amateur, working with limitations of flight simulation software, and low cost editing stuff, its not too bad.
(Oh and my father is an 'amateur' artist too and is well used to giving advice and critising others when he teaches art classes - but there is a way and means of doing it... and I can't ever recall him saying 'Your work is rubbish - no you can't see mine'...)

Your post is completely dodging the points as you know
where did I ever say this production was rubbish?
I didn't as you know.

Excellent work, it almost looks like real footage. The only thing I would have said was to have had the raid hit just after dawn for an even more realistic looking landscape.

If you read my posts you will notice that my criticism towards you is not about the comments you make but about the way you make them. It is about the way you perceive yourself to be and about the way that you present yourself. I noticed that you can't look at items besides your own scope of interest or "professionalism" so I made it a little more clear.
I hope you can take criticism as easy as you dish it out.

Brealistic, thanks for bumping this thread, the movie is certainly well worth it, as opposed to your utterings.
Didn't you do this same thing a while ago? - I seem to remember some similar serial postings where the poster kept extolling his own great abilities while meaninglessly criticising the work of happy amateurs who put a great deal of effort and time into their creations. Yeah, now I remember it: I think you did it in the screenshot thread...
Yeah, you sure aim for everybody to have a "positive experience", and everyone is certainly "welcome to participate"....

well in actually it really isn't given that squadron mascots were a very common on airbases in both the RAF and Luftwaffe and the US airforce.
You obviously know little to nothing of this fact. Just the fact you saw it in a few movies.

The main thing about them is that they look completely seamless. All other inserted pilot animations I ever saw in sim movies looked very much "glued on", but these look as if they were part of the sim. Quite astonishing.
