I mean,, me have seen a long time advertisement for Storm of War: Battle of Britain... And the screen shots for it have been looking very promising.
Now I have recently purchased it.. and I have not been very happy with it. Actually I have played it several times and I left it for what it was.

The start was not what it was supposed to be with for me a big show stopper Steam skullhead
But other than that the many bugs where not that favorable either. It just didnt feel well to me.

And actually it totally doesnt meet the expectancy I had of the game. So can anyone tell me if there is actually a second game on this topic in development.
Because I have gotten the feeling that this is a B class substitute to some development still going on.

I surely hope so! Because this was the game I have been waiting for, for many years. And now here it finally is... and now it is a big disappointment to me frown

Your wrong!!!

Lol the devil made me do it! You aren't alone, I think we all built this game up in our minds to be a lot more than what was delivered!
All is not well with the game, but it is definately improving and will with luck and continued effort from the devs eventually be what we all hoped for. Luckily life will go on and does not depend on this game, I can wait a while for it to come good.

Of course our life won't depend on this game.
But for many of use there simply aren't much games to our likings.

I am not someone that can enjoy some fantasy demon killing game.
I am a person that likes simulations.

I like Armed Assault, I like Silent Hunter... 2, 3 and 4. But 5 wasn't really it for me.
I loved IL2 vanilla, I loved IL2 FB, I loved IL2 46,.... I have spend many hours with this game.
I absolutely loved Panzer Commander... Yes long time a go wink Still miss this game. But it won't run since Windows XP... frown

Now I haven't spend many hours IL2 COD... I simply cannot really enjoy it the way I did IL2 < COD.
The fact is that we simply do not have a buckload of games to play. At least the type of person that I tend to be.

And that is not just me biggrin
(* I guess :p *)

I am much the same mate, the harddrive on my new pc has CoD, Arma II CO, plus mods, RoF, WW2OL, r-factor, and soon to get DCS A-10. Not a mindless shooter to be seen, and still more than enough to pass the time until CLOD is sorted. I could not bring myself to re install the whole il-2 series, patch and mod again wink

Panzer commander. One of the greatest tank sim of all time. Have you ever tried Panzer Elite?

http://www.tanksim.com/reviews/panz_elite.htm

This will run on window xp and it is even better. Excellent game play and outstanding ai

There is also a mod community that have improved it even further with new missions and a lot more.

forgive the "das boat" music. It isn't in the game thank god.

If you buy and play this game I guarantee it will go a long way in making you feel much better.

I know about Panzer Elite. But I never got to liken it. But I guess that is a matter of taste.

I have been hearing a bit lately about Iron Front which will be an independent release using the ARMA II engine with a lot of tweaks. With luck the Armoured side of the game will deliver the goods, we could finally have a modern tank sim!

They ridiculed you because you were carrying on like a prize teat who was just spoiling for trouble! These days when you post people have already decided that you are up to no good just going on past history. You made your bed now you must lie in it!

Now back to WoP with you like a good little nuggsy wink

Nuggetx was a purveyor of doom. Nuggetx prognosticated failure for CoD.

Nuggetx had to be shunned by the hardcore CoD elite.

Nuggetx said "Get a grip on reality" while referring to himself in the third person.

So far however, that is the only double standard Nuggetx has shown.

Being correct doesn't mean all that much. Who's going to listen to the naked screaming man running on the White House lawn about an alien invasion?
Sure, it happens, and the naked screaming man starts squealing "I told you so!!!", but no one cares. Because it was a naked screaming man.

The gang mentality surfaces again....infinitely worse than Nuggetx's postings IMO.

'He's an idiot.'

'Yes, he is'

'Ha ha'

'He said idiot'

'He clever...'

Pathetic, and a little nasty to boot.

a few dared to go against the oleg fanboy gang mentality and give their true honest opinions. To these few I thank you.

takes no backbone whatsoever to climb on a fanboy bandwagon. Just blind faith and obedience.

Believe me mate, you did well to get 1 valid page out of the thread wink it doesn't take long for any thread to turn toxic around here!

Hope you are one of the ones that does manage to enjoy the game over time and with some more development.

I don't know. Didn't got to ennoy Silent Hunter 5 as well either.
Am however still enjoying Silent Hunter III right now.

But nuff said I still feel like there should be made some kind of statement to Oleg and companions that just like Silent Hunter 5, releasing an unfinished game doesn't give you market records.
And so better to release a finished game without the fluff of steam and allowing like promised some modding etc etc.

Well... let's say.. two weeks wink

I have not bothered with the series after SH III, so can't comment on the later releases,
At least it seems that the dev's have not dropped CoD so at least while they continue to work on it there is some hope!

There is hope. But to my opinion a lot needs to be done...
For which I doubt they will do that any day soon. I hope that :

1 Some way they have gotten their assess kicked, and they realize that next time complete and then sell
2 They will not have any problems financially by it and are able to re release the product in a completed and working state.

Unfortunately it was highly unlikely the developer/publisher could wait for the sim to be finished. It was either release COD as is or kill the development. Complex air combat sims take too long and consequently too expensive to develop. Thats why all the other air combat developers are long gone, except in the east where the costs are slightly less. ROF was also released before it was finished, but was supported in the early stages long enough for the developer to survive. Hopefully COD will also find enough supported to survive the early stages.

Obviously this is pure speculation, no one truly knows why they released a alpha version of this game.

The argument that development was costing too much (for whom? It's not always obvious) doesn't necessarily hold water - some software houses are much cheaper to run and staff than others, particularly in Eastern Europe and Russia (amongst other areas). Also, it does not seem to be a large development house. Except for the alpha and beta test staff...which numbers everyone who has bought the game so far smile

Is it because its a because they are too expensive or because there just is not a big enough market in the west for PC Air Combat

games? People will gladly plunk down $70 dollars for a hot XBOX 360 or PS3 game. If it would help I hope the devs will raise the

price. I would gladly pay 100 dollars for a completely finished, 99% bug free IL2 Cliffs of Dover, In stead of $45 I paid for

a half finished game. I'll bet most of the guys here would too.

For sure, it would still be a small price to pay for the years of entertainment we would get out of it! You only have to look at what people are stumping up for the RoF complete package, or even a few addons for fsx. If the quality is there people will pay!

The problem with the World is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

I know Maddox Games would not release COD in this condition unless they were forced too.

You know nothing in truth Chivas, but lets just say you are right, poor Luthier and Oleg were forced to release an unfinished game, at the same time they were held at gunpoint and forced to lie all the way through development, they were forced to lie about SLI working, forced to lie about placeholder sounds, and forced to doctor video's shown so that it looked like the game ran smoothly. Poor luthier was forced to make a post saying he only liked to fly brand new 109's with the same skin, it must of broke his poor heart telling us that, knowing full well that you couldn't save the weathering or any skins at the same time, forced to put DX11 on the side of the box and forced to put the word Coperative play on at the same time. Forced to trouser all the cash from the sales and then poor Oleg was forced to run away without any explanation to his loyal fans. Forced to try and blame it all on an anti epilepsy filter and then forced to announce they made a half finished game.

See how ridiculous it sounds....

Yet here you are a fanboy of those that like to put down something just for the sake of it, put away your negativity, and give the game a go, it's a long way from finished or polished but it is no where near as bad as you would like people to think, that is my true and honest opinion.

Tree, firstly let me say I tend to like your comments for some odd reason, I think it's the sarcasm that attracts me or maybe it's because you were a drummer in a punk band, which is right down my alley, but I do recall that on release you had all the answers, I think it went like, its unfixable, it's broken, we were lied to etc, I thought these were the reasons for releasing an Alpha, so that the team could abscond with my hard earned $50, now your claiming that you truly dont know why they released an Alpha version of the game, I'm dissapointed and feel you owe us an apology, as you were cleary leading us astray and it appears you knew no more than the rest of us, well I'm shocked and will await your apology stirthepot

Hi Tree. A lot of that is disturbing stuff for sure. I dont have any doubt that all your facts are pretty much right.

I guess I am more a critic of the product itself than whatever conspiracies may or may not exist with the actors that have made our

game called CoD. So a critic I am but also one that hopes somehow this game will be fixed. So Tree, help me to nail it down.

What do you think their motives are? Will they keep working to fix the game?? I am not willing to give up on CoD until whats left

of the Devs decides they dont want to work on the game anymore.. no more support... no more patches they quit. Unless that happens

I wont give up hope. Should I ??

Firstly, Sorry Tiger.

Secondly, Commorange, my reply was aimed at Chivas, i do like the guy very much he's an ex squad mate, however the idea that a software company can be 'forced' to release an unfinished game is a joke. The word 'forced' implies some kind of threat, when most probably 1C was given an option. If you consider the fact that Oleg had walked away from the project a year and a half before release (Jason at 777 words) then who was the one putting pressure on Luthier to get the game out? Would that be UBI or Oleg?

Ok Tree. I see where your going now. Sorry to butt in. I'd just like to add I admire the way Chivas conducts himself on this forum.

He just states his opinion with class and doesnt get personal. He does not know me but I know him from Warclouds. Under a different

nickname I used to like to fly near him on the blue team. And when I flew Red i was careful to try to stay away from him! (Unless we

could outnumber him) He was real good player in that Bf109 G6AS.

It would be UBI putting the pressure on the COD developers as they are one of the major investors. If UBI says they've funded the project long enough and arn't willing to keep funding COD, the developers have no choice other than releasing what has been completed or dropping the project. It appears the Eastern sales were strong enough to continue development. I strongly doubt there was any kind of conspiracy to screw the genre, just a developer who ran out of time and money.

This interviewer must have had a tank barrel pointing at Oleg's head to 'force' him to come out with this pile of bollocks,

What kind of new improvements will be done about the AI in BOB ?
DS: AI is more proficient in interacting with other units and acting in large groups. It employs varying tactics in both attacking and defending, and looks more personalized as AI skills may vary from unit to unit.
OM: I would say it is simply way more complex AI than in IL-2. If with the release of original Il-2 users were impressed with the most humanized AI behavior on the market Then with BoB you will be more than impressed in comparison to any flight sim.

- Will clouds, night or sun affect AI behavior ?
DS: Yes, as well as the shape of the aircraft, AI skill and level of awareness all count in its ability to see and distinguish targets.

- Will the interaction between players and AI be improved ?
OM: Yes.

- What kind of new improvements will be made about the FM in BOB ?
OM: Will be more precise for each aircraft, and a more complex model of internal airplane structure adds more details into its behaviour.

- Will the icing condition in high altitude be simulated ?
RD: Yes. At least it is working now in code it is not so a dramatic effect now for the airframe, but has a strong effect on the engine and prop.

- What kind of new improvements will be made about the DM in BOB ?
OM&RD: It is a mix of Il-2 and new DM. Better to say some part - the way more complex than Il-2 type DM (improoved due to more complex internal structure) plus actual hits (holes) shown for the small caliber weapons.
And in general in short words - more complex interaction of DM due to way more modelled details of the internal structure.

- Which aircraft systems will be simulated in the game ?
RD: All listed. Even more : all the listed systems are modelled, they can be damaged, they wear down from abusement, and they affect each other as they perform. Say losing hydro pump from a stalled engine will shut the hydraulic-operated landing gear, or abusing electrical system would degrade plane electrical instruments, and if you try to press out pneumatic-operated landing flaps with a battle-damaged pistons, you would lose pressure in braking system as well, and so on, and so on.

- Will we have a clickable cockpit ?
RD: Yes. As an option.

- In Il2 we had 2 main playing methods : cooperative or dogfight.
Is there anything new about that ? A new playing method ?
OM: There will be similar to old modes and completely new. Say in dogfight will be possible to fly bomber with multicrew positions... just one sample. There will be possibility to connect and replace the bot, if there is permission for that action (many options to limit or to add in settings).

- Will it be possible to reload guns from the gunnery stations in the bombers ?
RD: Yes, but simplified at the moment.

- How will the engine management be improved ?
RD: It is too much to tell the engine model itself is a very complex one, and includes many features of a real aircraft. In full-real mode you are to operate the range of controls from throttle to mixture, wep enablers, radiators, carb heaters and failure to keep the engine in its limits would result in premature wear, loss of performance, and failures. This applies to all-out full real, you can change into a il-2-like simple system where you cant damage your motors whatever you chose to do.

- Will it be possible to rearm and refuel in a cooperative mission ?
OM: Proabbly. The question is how to make it looking more or less realistic but at the same time to keep playbilty. Speaking about many aircraft in reality the ground crew wasnt able to refuel (rearm) them for a shot time... Do you want to sit (wait) in the cockpit for a couple of hours?

- How the radar will improve the game ?
OM: It will work according to their real life features (including speech). For German and British side by different way.

- The radio chattering is really important for the atmosphere especially during the BOB because there were a lot of different nationality of pilot and there was a lot of radio guidance due to the radar
What kind of new improvements will be made about that in BOB ?
OM: Totally new speech engine

- What kind of new improvements will be made about the user interface in BOB ?
RD: Absolutely new GUI. Nothing common with IL-2. With lots of new ways to customize your controls and personal aircraft set-ups.

- Will it be possible for some human players to exchange positions if they are in the same plane ?
(we have already talked about that but if you can give me more details )
OM: If the pilot killed and gunner would conrol aircraft? Should be possible, however the body of pilot must be disappearing. This feature is under question.

- What kind of new improvements will be made about the FMB in BOB ?
OM: Copy-Paste, including many objects at once and completely new features. But general interface were keeping like in Il-2 more easy to learn when you are experienced with Il-2 mission builder.

- Will you release tools or technical information about the things that will be need to be worked by third party, like maps, adding 3d models (humans, vehicles, buildings, ships, and so on) previously to the release of BoB?
That way, we can start gathering information while we wait for the sim.
OM: After release. Some things are impossible to release untill the time when well get final version. It is separate work. The core is ready, but some simple user interface will be later. Also, to make instructions that is a big deal and time. So I dont expect the release of external tools for third party right with the release. But I personally hope that it may happens soon after release.

- What kind of things will it be possible to do for a third party ??
OM: In time, not right with the release all these things: Aircraft, ground and sea objects with AI (then possibly controllable by player), new maps. But size of maps will be limited. We will make big maps only ourselves that to go for the next sims in a series...

Will we have a victory sharing system in the game ?
OM: It is possible

- Will the game be compatible with the 3D technology ?
OM:Such things define now only graphics cards, their drivers and power. We dont need really to make anything special.

- Will the game be compatible with the triple screen technology ? (Triple Head Matrox)
OM: Yes.

- Will the game be optimized for the multithreading processing ?
OM: Yes.

- Will we have more humans life on the ground ?
OM: In time - possible. Now all things depends of our own speed of work. And how many different types of human (soldiers or even civilians) will be in the sim just god knows. We plan many. But can say right now how many will be in release.

- For the track IR user. Did you think about a head movements limitations according to the G factor ?
OM: Yes. And according cockpit (canopy glass) limitations as well 

- Will the weather be dynamic ?
OM: Yes. Very complex code. Details more close to release.

- Will we have the trail wind from the other inflight planes ?
OM:Yes.

- What kind of new improvements will be done about the sounds in BOB ?
OM:Completely new 3D sound engine

- If you were a normal player what would you like the most in the game ?
and what would you like the least ?
OM : I personally would like to have simulation with elements of the gameplay.
Or by other words I would like to have the good game, that we may really name by this word : s_i_m_u_l_a_t_o_r. Last time I didnt see such games, offering these both features in comparable level between each other.
In additionall we also need to implement so easy settings of customizable difficulty level that would be useful for complete newbies.

- Will the oxygen system be functionnal ?
OM: If you mean manual use of oxygen mask then I would say yes. As an option of difficulty settings.

- How Will you change the black out system ? (for positive and negative G)
OM: We dont plan to change it in graphics. But just small changes will be in program code. In Il-2 it was almost optimal replacement comparing to the real life.

Man I'm sick of opening up this thread and seeing that guys head up that creatures butt.

Ya but what if Oleg had an opportunity to pose with those ladies and turned it down. Not only would he be accused of being a liar, a conspirator, a poor flight sim developer, but a homosexual as well. I mean while we are all speculating why have any stops. Stop

"Bollocks", is your negativity, tree!
I have no doubt that all this stuff is in the code, just not switched on.
With a little patience we'll see.

In fairness bish, if he's appears to be exhausted it must be because of his other job, he hadn't been working on CLOD for a year and a half as stated by Jason at 777.

Come on Bisher, if the Oleg can turn up at the Moscow show and sell hundreds of copy's of COD and sign autographs while not for a second telling all them people that the sim is quite possibly fecked and could be a total right-off, (remember this is the day BEFORE telling us about the anti-epilepsy stuff)..then does a runner, i sure he was doing just fine.

So you don't think Oleg looks pale, gaunt and has dark bags under his eyes, I really don't know if this is a reflection of his health or if this is how he generally looks. I'm trying to get a clear picture, not rehash the same old theories.

Oleg looks drained and gaunt because he is in fact the modern day 'Roderick Usher'.....in what Edgar Allan Poe might have described as 'The fall of the House of Maddox'. The corrosive and debilitating effect of his constant stream of bullsh*t, feckless amorality and insipid evasiveness brought forth from his tortured psyche has begun to manifest itself in physical form. Wracked by guilt as he poses with Bolshevik Floozies, the terrible contagion raged relentlessly, until his appearance began to Mirror that of his dark, deceptive, lying Soul. rofl

It's a fekking joke. biggrin The literati who have read any Poe might get it. Calm down. hahaha

Eastern Block are quite often the most prettiest on the planet.

I have been to Poland and Slovakia.
I have spend two months in Poland last year. And I have to tell you that those women are incredibly hot!!
Just very pretty!!

In comparison to where I live in Holland the women are big, not very submissive,, rather dictating.... and not attractive.
So I know what I would do if I where him biggrin

Anyway... I have gotten the feeling that BOB is like IL2 in many cases just a story of things that will not come true.
He tells many things he wants to do but for some reason many of those features will not make it into the eventual game.

Common sense has left this board and when the game is fixed it still won't return due to a number of imbeciles on both forums that will think that it was down to there petty whining and crocodile tears that got the game fixed...

Dear oh dear... I can't wait for the pompous fools on this forum to realise they are just flys battering a window biggrin

Finally checking back in on this game and went to Steam here in the US to take a look at when THEY will release it....They are showing July 19, 2011 for the release date. That is an awful lot of push back from the original date a few months ago.

IF Oleg really did walk away from development over 18 months ago as others have quoted and stated then what the heck were they doing for the previous 5+ years? I understand that some people think that he is THE god of flight simulation development but what the heck man? From what I have seen it looks like they only truly started hashing out the game about 18 months before this release and all the stuff up until that time was proposals on paper and vaporware with some 3D screen shots and updates to the old IL-2 engine.

As for me I will keep lurking and checking in periodically to see if its worth the money for the download. By the way I still get pissed in the old IL-2 that you don't get credit for shooting up a plane when your AI squadron mates come in and blast it once to get the kill.

I have news for you Nugget, everyone was disappointed, its just most people are intelligent enough to know there is a good chance the sim will get finished if its supported. Your posts are only designed to drive away support for this sim. You should spend more time in the WOP forum your presence alone would double their much need viewership.

Well FearlessFrog is gone, he tired of the relentless negative content of this forum (my perception of his last post, so not necessarily an accurate reflection of his thoughts);for a frog he was more of a man than me. Dammit!

Looks like Heinkill is the latest casualty of the naysayers. This forum should have been moderated far better. I say that as a past moderator for several years over at Delphi's Harleys and More forum. We got some real nasty "individuals" (the most civilized way of describing them) that make the naysayers here look like the geek-trolls they are. We shut 'em down fast to avoid losing the valued members like this forum is doing.

Freedom of speech means you don't get arrested and prosecuted for speaking your mind, no matter how objectionable your opinion may be to the majority. Freedom of speech does NOT prevent you from being told to leave the party for showing bad manners.

Darn shame and so preventable.....

What Heinkill is gone as well!?!? I was not aware of that.

I appreciate the difficulty to moderate this forum and wonder if they were hoping the conspiracy theorists would go away before members who were putting in an effort to enjoy this sim. Unfortunately this is not happening, though things did seem to settle down, perhaps not soon enough.

Last page of this thread he bids us adieu, stating he's basically fed up with the negativity. It's really too bad, because he was a great contributor and really showed the current capability of CoD and its potential.

Well, what do you guys expect? No normal people will stay around in a forum spamed to death by all these naysayers. It takes a bit of a freak such as myself. I'm just sad that there are very few people to talk about CoD with, people who actually enjoy playing the sim such as I do.

But, hey, mission accomplished for the haters. Their effort is paying off handsomely. Nobody keeps them from doing it.

No Tree, not really. They are leaving because every single positive thread in this forum gets hijacked by people who don't even own they game or by people that hate it with such passion they feel the need to bring down someone's enjoyment. I'm having a blast playing it. With all the quality settings on max, I get 40-60 FPS any place on the map, and that's with 40+ planes next to me. My game plays and looks like Barfly's video.

I would love to start some threads with my own experiences / AAR's, but after seeing the constant bashing by the same select few who get off on it, it's pointless to even post here.

This place is a joke and full of some of the most immaturity I've ever seen out of people claiming to be adults.

I have two movies coming up, but I'm also really doubting whether I'll post them in this forum. This place is just not worth it. It is like, you invite friends over for a party and then some strangers show up and proceed to ruin it for everybody. Are you gonna have another party again? - No, not really.

If people are interested they'll find my movies somewhere... - I really think Heinkill did the right thing when he decided to not post his after-action reports in this forum. He certainly gave me something to think about.

Nuggetx, Tree, falstaff, Brealistic, commorange, you won, congrats.

The forum will be great with just your "contributions", falstaff.

Yeah, I was thinking about posting on all the other forums for games I didn't own at SimHQ. Just to randomly stop by and say that game x is garbage or game z is garbage. How fun would that be? Just imagine being 40 years old and getting your jollies off by doing that? I mean, you'd think in this day and age that you could find some better hobby.

You'd think someone joins a forum to contribute. But forums are a good way of showing how pathetic some people are in real life.

I see the old personal silliness is starting to creep back in. Almost as if in some some posts people cannot help themselves, but feel compelled to move back to the insults they had previously refined and perhaps even moved away from?

'naysayers', 'haters'...

'Dont owners'??

Even the insults are sounding stale?

I wonder who these comments most reflect on?

Speak of the devil, there's that confirmation I knew would come.

Thanks smile

(btw, don't get upset this time. Last time I was actually feeling sorry for you - like more than usual even)
