Can it really be Rise of Flight without the 1903 Wright Flyer?

Can it really be Rise of Flight without the 1903 Wright Flyer? Note the game's sub title - 'The First Great Air War'. That should answer your question nicely. Also, what would be the point in flying a plane that could only fly for what - 12 seconds? No offence but I'd find that boring.

Rise of Flight, not Beginning of Flight. If you want a go at pre-war, try First Flight. Despite it having Thirdwire involved, I remember this actually being a very accurate simulation due to it using a full scale with a wind tunnel to get the data. Sort of fell off the radar as far as anyone remembering it but I enjoyed it. http://www.mywrightexperience.comS!

I remember finding a Bleriot XI as a 3rd party addition to CFS3. Being a BIG fan of "Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines" I thought, wow! Here's an exciting opportunity to relive the early days of flight.
I started up near Dover, flew over the cliffs buzzing like a distraught beehive at about 30 mph, and headed out over the channel. About 15-20 minutes later I could still see Dover castle and habour, and Calais was still a smudge on the horizon. I couldn't take it any longer...
Maybe if there was some significant element of role-playing an early air-race (like the movie mentioned), where lots of things could go wrong (wheels falling off, petrol leaks, rival sabotage etc.), a much better inaction with ground persona when you have to emergency land (that French tart in the haystack for instance...) and a much more varied terrain with lots of stuff to look at, then it really could be an interesting sim. But sadly, I suspect it would be an even smaller following than WWI sims currently have.
Oh well, just a thought...

Can it really be Rise of Flight without the 1903 Wright Flyer? You're absolutely right! I also want a Montgolfière. And a pterodactyl.

If the devs start wasting time making turn of the century aeroplanes just to keep a couple of people happy, instead of the much needed types for 1916 onwards you will all get your knickers in a right twist! Oh come on, this is a tongue-in-cheek thread...

Er, you are so behind the curve... notice the 'knickers' bit.. Oh, I'm sorry, I left out the schoolgirl titter! Your understated British humour underwhelms me, you win...

Stuffy and all,
you are right, it should be the 1904 Flyer II, unless one wants the fun of constant control of pitch (flyer I had a bad tendency of bobbing up and down). I did post in jest but with a point. RoF has likely the best fight dynamics available. It might be that 'First Flight: The Wright Experience Flight Simulator' may be better in that regard. TK did start on the simulator but most or all of his work was replaced with much more detailed flight dynamics so it has very little to do with Thirdwire engine.
Other than jest, the fun would be in being able to try the fly the darn things, I understand that at least the Flyer I was very difficult. Just a note. The reason that the Wrights kept so low to the ground was to keep from being killed. I find it fascinating how they discovered each problem and solution and the process they went about. Flyer I ended in a crash at the end of the season but they had solved the last problem and knew they had. The next season was at home in Dayton. No need for slopes, soft sand, and constant winds anymore.
Race you to the Mucky Duck!
