Nice! Here's a couple more. The JG3 machine is almpst outside the scope of this sim but I wanted to do that nice RLM70/71 upper camo... Bennemann's Black 5 on the other hand fits the bill well as it was flown at the height of the battle in late August. Friendly fire was obviously a concern in I./JG52 smile

Bennemann looks lovely! - I think the top line in the 5 might be a bit too long, though, see this photo... (Only went to check because it looked a bit off when I first looked at your skin. I could be wrong of course...).

That's kind of hard to tellm but if you're right it's the entire numeral that is slightly too wide, the top line is aligned with the bottom circle so it's not longer than it's supposed to be in that respect. For the moment I think I'll keep it like that but thanks for pointing it out. I don't mind constructive comments! smile

Yes the 5 seems to be equidistant between the cross and canopy, the top of the 5 level with the top of the horizontal of the cross and level with the canopy midway. Even the guy making the model got it wrong. It's only a small detail but hopefully easy to change one day maybe.

No criticism. Love the skins smile

The 5 on the model looks thinner than the photo, but on the the skin, about right to me in dimensions. Just a slight trim off the top limb. Nevertheless...wish I could produce work to half that standard. No criticism intended.

No doubt, numbering positions would differ to some degree if we were able to compare both sides. Unless we have original photographs of both sides of the subject, we will always have to assume the position of markings on the unknown side.

Does the inclusion of selectable skins after the latest patch now mean we can add these lovely skins to the game without fear of being VAC banned?

Yes, but on the other hand I don't think you had anyting to fear earlier either as long as you didn't use a mod but the skin only... Now I got to rush out my last planned E-3's and get on to the E-1! smile

Three new ones today, two of those are from JG26 which must have had a larger number of E-3's than any other unit - or perhaps they've only managed to end up in lots of more photos! smile The third machine is from JG51 and was flown by a pilot named Arthur Haase, Haase means hare in German so the side of the aircraft had a very cool personal marking depicting a hare with binoculars and a shotgun. I really spent time on that marking and it turned out very nice I must say... wink

Thanks! Here's two more - these beeing E-3B's i.e. Jabos. They've got their own section now. I discovered that my first version of Hans-Karl Mayers E-3 was used as a Jabo in October 1940 so I've moved that version (as seen below) to the E-3B section and changed the color of the spinner, I discovered that it was RLM70 during the Jabo days of October.

The second skin I hope will lead to discussion! It's the yellow 1 flown by Walter Rupp when he had to bellyland at Manston on October 17:th. It is depicted in the Jagdwaffe series with a yellow nose covering not only the enginecowling but the panels behind with the supercharger intake as well as the panel in front of the windscreen. I've previously done a skin for IL-2 1946 like that. Looking at the pictures though I came to realise that with those spots around the red band not to mention the dark paint on the top of the cowling, it would have been some very strange wear and tear that would have made a yellow nose look like that. Not to mention that no other JG53 aircraft has ever been found with the yellow on the nose extending that far back. Belive it or not, this is my take! smile

Hi Cpt Farrel.

Just thought I would let you know that virtually every time I fly online someone compliments your skin (I am using Galland's Griffon one atm) twice now they have complimented your choice of blue.

Of course I just tell them that they are mine and that you are kindly hosting them for me pilot wink

Thanks for taking the time to let me know! It's nice to hear! It's also nice to go into the screenshots thread and see my skins being used frequently now! Right now I'm in the country house writing from a laptop to there won't be that much skinning time for me during the summer. I do have the laptop though so when everyone else is asleep I'm searching for references and planning for future skins... smile (The laptop belongs to my wife and although I've managed to install photoshop I think Cliffs of Dover would certainly be pushing it too far!)
