I am away from my gaming computer and would love to hear about this (more or less) new bird! - How is it? As far as I can tell it's practically identical to the E-3. The only differences are the two MGs in the wings that seem pretty effective and the cockpit has a black dashboard and a pleasant green/grey tint. If there are any performance differences I haven't noticed.

Oh damn, it just had machine guns instead of the later cannons? - Auch, that sounds like no fun at all.... Try it! You'll be surprised how much damage you can do with 4xMGs Did it fly in the BoB at all? I think Emils 1-4 made an appearance during the battle to varying degrees. Might be wrong, though.

Hmm, acc. to Blackdog on the banana forum I should maybe think higher of the E-1... On a final note, that E-1 is a beast. It's not very good against bombers, but it chews up fighters like nobody's business with four of those fast firing MGs. I think it will become the prime air superiority platform for blue pilots online because its lower weight, high rate of fire and ample ammunition supply are ideal for properly hosing down enemy fighters and making a quick getaway.

Another useless comment from you. Go away, get a life. Be with your poor kids (then again, maybe not, they're probably better off without...). Just anything instead of wasting your own and everybody else's time in here. Watch the personal attacks. Don't count further warnings.

I am away from my gaming computer and would love to hear about this (more or less) new bird! - How is it? The E-3 had about 5% speed increase over the E-1 and the former had a higher compression DB601A using different fuel. Therefore, we should expect differing flight characteristics. Galland flew both the E-1 and E-4 but not the E-3. The E4 was an E-1 brought to E-3 standard but differed externally by the cockpit framing and in some cases, the aerial mast.

well, a E-1 was some kilogramms (~30kg) lighter than a canon armed Emil. IF they had the same equipment (mainly armour). There was no standard in this in the LW during BoB ! Also it depends if the plane has a DB601A-1 or a DB601Aa installed. The higher compression engine with the diffeent fuel would be a DB601N btw, but than the plane would have a -/N suffix behind its name ! I guess, 1C gave both 109s the same engines...... During BoB the E-1 and E-4 was almost even in numbers, the most E-3 already were converted to E-4 (simple weapon change , not much more...). "....On 31 August 1940, fighter units (excluding JG 77) reported 375 E-1s, 125 E-3s, 339 E-4s and 32 E-7s on strength...." The amocounter in the CoD E-1 shows 42 for the wingguns. I guess it is multiplicated with 10, so 420 rounds. Thats wrong, it has to be 500rounds. the developer of that 109 MOD said in the banana forum that the game engine has already in it a DB601A-1, DB601Aa and the mineshells of a MG-FF/M. http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=23921If that is true, the last thing is annoying me, because the Bf110s have still no MG-FF/M with mineshells - with their actual MG-FF they are no Mark -4/-7

As for mg`s only, i have np problems getting kills with only 2 on the E-3, especially Hurris. I feel the E-1 is easier to aim and hit with. The cannons have really bad ballistics and makes pretty much all deflection shooting blind ones.
Cant wait to see the nose mounted cannon, for some reason my shooting gets 50% worse with wing mounted armament.

I've been wanting an E-1 for a while. The reason is that I discovered very early in COD that the MG's in the 109 are the real killers and the cannons are just percussion instruments to add some drama to the event. Besides in the 109 you have so much MG ammo that you can take pot shots whenever you like without worrying that you'll be out of ammo soon. (Try that in a Spit!)
When I saw it was available I excitedly loaded up the E-1 and flamed a Hurri straight away with the 4 MG's. It's lovely, just what I had hoped for!

Well yes, you can shoot down fighters pretty well, allot of pilot kills (this plane will be hated online)! But 2 wing cannons is just more fun IMO, you can't really shoot off parts/wings etc. You know what? I have shot down a hell of a lot of planes in COD with the 109 and I don't think I've ever de-winged or blown up a single one with the 109 MG's or cannon. I have de-winged He-111, Ju-87 and blown up many 109's with a Spit or a Hurri but I've never seen catastropic damage caused by the 109's armament. If you dont' count fire that is. The fire is ineffective though, it always goes out and the plane never blows up!

Cant wait to see the nose mounted cannon, for some reason my shooting gets 50% worse with wing mounted armament. No operational Emils flew with a nose-mounted cannon. It's an old and tired myth.
