Exactly comments like that why I'm leaving this gaming community. Thanks for proving my point.

Only if we're really unlucky! Suppose now would be an opportune time to sell those cleanex shares, as tissue sales will plummet!

Thanks for the warning

Guys, while Colonel presented a dissenting opinion most times, he had some good points as well and brought a lot of experience. IMHO I think we're diminished by loosing anyone.

Anyone who leaves this community disgruntled is a stain on all of us. While it may be a whine stain (I couldn't resist) tolerance is key to keeping the community growing, and that should be our common goal.

Hang on to your game Colonel, your allowed to have an opinion and really its not worth missing out on ROF, when you could always put people on ignore or just take their comments with a grain of salt.

been there done that....tbh I still have issues with ROF (flashing and flickering ground textures over no mans land - when changing FOV views or moving with TiR), its now much better game. ROF community is nor better nor worse than any other sim community. Now Im glad Im back (although I lost 120 bucks) and my new frustration are pedals (excellent simpeds vario). I cant get used to them in ROF (in IL2 I need less leg work), sometimes its difficult to maintain sustained turn with pedals. Also, now I have less free time for flying and Im more tired than before (because of new family obligations). Thats why I suck now online and that is a bit frustrating for someone who wasnt bad at all..before. But I will not quit. I actually still enjoy playing this even when Im owned by a newb online.

I just hope they will fix the flight models. Then I will eat Jasons sweater.

Dude don't take things so personal.

Chill, and if the forums annoy you spend some time off them.

If the forums are getting too much for me, I just don't touch them for a while - focus on flying the game!

Besides, now the career mode is here, the community (forums/multiplayer) is optional. Just don't use it and play the game instead.

You're overreacting by giving your account away seriously.

I LOL'd! biggrin

It may be worth considering why it seems so many are "against" you, Colonel. Is it just the community? Or is it you? People coexist with differing viewpoints all the time. How they communicate with each other is another matter and sets a tone. If you're always butting heads, it's probably how you are saying it more than what you are saying.

Anyhow, I think you should keep the game (if you have been enjoying it) and just ignore the forum for a while. Take a break. But if you do go, no tears here to be honest -- I'm just not interested in the drama. Forests need fire to replenish and grow. I don't see losing the occasional player has being harmful to this community.

Its sad anyone would want to give ROF because of what people say on a forum.

TBH the "banter" here is a lot more intense than on the official ROF boards. But then again maybe thats the attraction.

I think the reason that many naysayers get shot down is many are tired of endless critism coming from a vocal minority. Hence they jump at the chance to defend their favourite sim.

Given the lack of decent flight sims availible, this does rather sound like shooting oneself in the foot. Then again if it bothers you that much, perhaps it is time to concerntrate on other matters?

When I read the original post I did not get the impression he was leaving the forum. But rather trying to recoup some of his losses.

It was not until an intolerant jest was snuck in that he put it out there he was leaving the community.

The way I see it FanBois ratio just grew by one. I never really drank the kool aid, just flew the game.

There are a few things that have always bothered me about RoF, like the lack of offline singleplayer (the brilliant new campaign still being online-only) and the whole server-based centralized authentication crap.

The fact that it has now become impossible to even ask something on the board (even something just technical, like asking if the demo requires activation) without being jumped by Freycinet and a few others as "ungrateful #%&*$#" is just the icing on the cake, the little bit extra that makes me realize I'm better off with my previous WW1 title and community. I don't think it's a matter of presentation or "tone of voice" either, seeing how others have been shot down before me for offering criticism while trying their best not to offend. I'm not gonna sugar-coat any adress to the developers in heaps of praise, and I still don't know why ranting at a commercial publisher/developer warrants personal attack in return. Anyway, so be it.
