Hi all,

Seriously looking at DCS A-10 and the TM Warthog (finally got the rig to push it). I see a lot of problem reports on this thread about the hardware, and it has me nervous. I dont ming spending the $500 (that's a lie, I do mind, but I'll do it anyway cause I'm nutz hehe), but I don't want a doorstop for my money.

So the question is... is the TM Warthog ready for prime time or not?

Thanks!
George

My warthog is fine, except that after about one month of use, 'sticktion' developed. If I rest the joystick at a position, and then try to move it, it takes more force to move it initially - which causes bumps. It's also very apparent when you try move the stick very slowly and consistently.

The accuracy is still okay unless you are doing formation flying. Seeing you are going to fly A10, it probably won't matter much as jets fly like on rail.

I fly prop sims, so I am planning to take apart the stick completely to replace the lubricant. Some have reported that this helps.

Its a Go. I own one and I can say it is one of the most accurate and smooth sticks I have ever owned. Plus if you own DCS A-10 it is handy lol. TM has good support and so far... Knock on wood I have had no problems.

Ahh CLOD never in the history of Simming has so much been promised and so little given.

However I want to thank Team Fusion for keeping the Dream Alive.

That's a pretty serious issue to develop after a month of use on a $500 HOTAS, imo at least...

Yeah. If I didn't buy with a mindset of eventually modding it I'd be damn pissed.

But long ago, I've decided that the only joystick that I'd like is one I build for myself since companies inevitably will skimp on some part or another. I'm assembling all the parts for a uni-joint stick right now. Need to figure out what to do with the springs. Hoping to get some mini pneumatic springs

My WH has "sticktion" too (good word, btw), but it's not significant, and I wonder what kinds of odd bumps and flutters real aircraft controls get after a lot of use.

So far, knock wood, that's the worst I've seen from my WH, but with so many issues being reported, I'd be a little hesitant to pop that much on one now too.

Ok so I went ahead and did it. I really want to experience DCS, and this has to be the best controller possible. I bought a $32 Walmart protection plan for two additional years, JIC.
