Might get Paint.NET and the PSD Plugin, just to convert the PNG to PSD. It's free, powerful and expandable with plugins. [shameless plug]Heck, I managed to make the IL-2 P-38 instrument textures look nice with it. biggrin [/shameless plug]

Hmmm...ok, thanks. Not encouraging info.
Without meaning to be facetious, perhaps a double check where Greenwich is?

If you get to a state of a big image with some decent labels for airfields etc then give us a shout - I can quickly write a mini web app to make it zoomable a la google maps.

Your web app for zoomable map is GREAT!
Im working with that map (grid is missing and some airfields etc...) and when I got it done Ill inform.
Heres how it will look now. (image is resized to width=800 for web usage. Orginally this was over 2000 pix width)

And as you can see I made some colour and level corrections with photoshop. Its a bit brighter now.

Cool - glad to see it worked. Actually, a bit shocked. Bit of a beer-haze late last night to be honest, so it's a miracle it worked. Now overdosing on chocolate with the kids, which makes a nice combo early on a Monday morning smile

When you have a big image (it can be huge too, the web app 'tiles' it so that anyone can view without a big download) then upload somewhere and give us a link. I'll chop it up and 'deepzoom' it - takes 5 minutes.

If anyone can't see this page, then let me know as later I'll make it 'look purdy' or something:

What has Greenwich got to do with it ? The RAF "Purple" Grid is not a Lat Long based grid and doesn't use Greenwich as a datum if that's what you are referring to.
Its full name is the :Military Grid, War Office Grid, Cassini Grid

It does use Microsoft Silverlight, so yes - download it if you want to use the zoomy map, it's harmless plus fairly small.

Apologies, my mistake after a cursory glance.

There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB.
The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed.
There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

Gorgeous! I went with the original and used Photoshop to convert the png map file into a tiff, then imported into Lightroom where I did some basic finishing. Printed the entire map at 13" x 19" for framing, then sectional maps at 10.5" x 16.7" for laminating (working copies).

This'll be great for basic navigation, just have to make sure I'm well-trimmed before burying my nose in the maps! LOL

Just copying and pasting my banana forum post here:

Hi Guys,

I've taken Wooster's map and put it in PDF format. It's 3 pages wide and 4 pages long (A4) So 12 pages large.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=V6JDRVQN

I was messing about with margins but didn't' have time, so there's a tiny bit of white space between the pages, but you can just cut these off or fold them.

I used posterazor on Ubuntu to generate the PDF.

Sorry, this is a layman's question: Your maps are the in game map, right ? So I can find the map somewhere in the app directory, or am I mistaken ?
Could someone explain this to me ?
I found no .png files in the COD Folder ...

Michael.
