I really enjoyed it, but I had to get the earlier games out of my mind (specially Chaos Theory) and just view this one as a different kind of game.
The issue is not p*ssy. The issue is monkey.

Nice screenies, Magnum. I never could get into the Splinter Cell series. Tried a couple of demos, but they just didn't grab me. This one looks beautiful but I'll pass.

One of the more maddeningly frustrating games I'd ever played. Couldn't wait to get it over with. Some of the save/check points just drove me out of my mind.
I should, however, try to finish Chaos Theory someday.

I liked the fight in the toilets, reminded me of the fight in the opening scene of Casino Royale.

I think you overrate Double Agent if you call it average. I'm actually enjoying Conviction more than the sad mess that was DA.

...I had to get the earlier games out of my mind (specially Chaos Theory) and just view this one as a different kind of game. I did that and still hated the story mode (both single and coop). The gameplay otherwise kinda works, the Deniable Ops mode (Hunter, Infiltration) was kinda fun. I think you overrate Double Agent if you call it average. I'm actually enjoying Conviction more than the sad mess that was DA. I'd still go with DA, but only because it mostly still has the traditional SC gameplay (which I prefer). Otherwise, you're right, it's a mess (The Gen7 (PC/X360) version at least, the Gen6 (PS2/Xbox) is quite good).
