I've been on the fence regarding whether to get a 6950 in the 1GB or the 2 GB flavour.
The cost difference isn't that great between the two, but I've read (there's an X-Bit labs article) that the 2GB really doesn't do much over the 1GB. That article benched against all the usual FPS-type games, but perhaps RoF and il2/CloD are different with respect to GPU memory needs...

Anyone have a view on this?

Cheers, C_G I am not much of a hardware guru. I really just picked out the 3gb 580 because I wanted the extra ram in case it came in handy later on down the line. I intend to keep this video card for some time, so I wanted to future proof it as much as possible. From what I understand 1gb is pretty much the minimum vram for cutting edge games these days. I would get the 2gb if it were me.
