Yeah, they took some liberties all right. The entire realm of sgard was a bit overdone for my taste - Valhalla is after all supposed to be a huge long house in the viking style, with a thatched roof and low walls, with dark interior and a big fire in the middle - but I liked Heimdall the watchman, the rainbow bridge and most of the other stuff. It was mostly true to the mythology, except for the artistic liberties wink

Besides, our god of thunder is a big guy with a huge hammer, and that's cool no matter how you portray him biggrin

Fun fact: A couple of my hiking trip reports have been from Jotunheimen, which is named after the ice giants' realm in Norse mythology smile

In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!

The actress who played Sif was smoking hot. smile

And of course Ray Stevenson was great as always.

Which one was Ray Stevenson? I keep trying to figure it out and since I don't know one Norse name from another IMDB ain't helping.

I wasn't ever a real big fan of Thor in the comics but this one was not bad at all (I just saw it in 3D a few hours ago). I thought the 3D was a bit dark too--then I realized I was still wearing my sunglasses under my 3D glasses. Oops.

Well, I at least got to see the segment post-credits without the shades.

What movie is that post-credit ending referring to? I thought it might be for Captain America since it's the next Avenger movie, but I don't know what the deal with the box is. I also loved the references to the other movies, such as "Is that one of Stark's?" "I dunno. He never tells me anything." and "I know these SHIELD guys. I worked with someone, a scientist, who was a real pioneer in gamma radiation. SHIELD interred him and he was never heard from again."

Also, did anyone catch Jeremy Renner playing a cameo as Hawkeye? That rocked, I am so excited that he is in it and is playing one of my fave Avengers!

Jersey Yo
It was a decent movie. Better than I expected. But to compare to other superhero / comic book movies, I would have to rank it behind....

Dark knight / Batman begins / dark knight rises ...yeah I know its not out yet
Spider-man 1 and 2
Superman 1 and 2
Ironman 1
Kickass
Batman

So that doesn't crack my top 10

Cosmic Cube

The base post credit did look like 1940 set seen in the Captain America trailer
