It's hard to criticize anyone who make a study sim (now a days there is only one, DCS), but I just don't have the time anymore to appreciate all they put into it.

Then again, I'm spoiled with the graphics, and flight models those folks provide (DCS, Jason's crew, even Clod).

What I would love is what DiD did 10yrs ago with their ground-breaking EF2000 simulation. Took a (on the drawing board) design, and came up with a "war" in an area of the world that wasn't fought in before. God, it was cool...

Played Falcon for years - tired on Korea. Same for the area DCS likes. Don't want sand (Iran) either.

Why won't someone do a F-35 simulation? Think about all variants, including carrier ops, and invent a probable war for resources (say) in Alaska, or somewhere else?

Yeah, so far we've had Flanker, Flanker 2 and 2.5, LOMAC, Flaming Cliffs, Black Shark and A-10 in Crimea..kinda surprised they haven't done anything new, really.

In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!

Even better, TOM CLANCY's Lockheed P-38 versus Messerscmitt Me-109. That would sell even more copies.

piper, I couldn't agree with you more.

In fact, the first version of EF2000 came out over 15 years ago, just to give some idea of how far we haven't come.

EF2000's successors, ADF & TAW still look pretty good today with their 3Mbyte of texture memory usage.

Eurofighter

The Eurofighter or Typhoon is one of my favourites. Currently seeing a lot of service over the North Sea and a navalised version is on the way opens up the possibility of theatres anywhere.

With a selection of modern weaponry to satisfy gadget lovers, ski jump take-off and high visibility cockpit to show off low level flying you could do some great things with modern technology. Wouldn't take much to recreate the lighting in this long exposure photo in some 3D engines today.

Heavy skies = mood. Low level flight also lends itself to the Tornado but if I had to choose between them I think the Eurofighter has the edge.

Stealth

Gaming possibilities are to be found in tactical flying, the F117a or F19 as imagined (in a real sense) by Microprose. Threading your way through air search radars and patrols while monitoring your own signature was a more sedate thinking mans game.

Is Jim Hawkins still around I wonder?
