DOWNLOAD THE DEMO from the Official site. ...then head over to HERE and set up an account. (use the first download link for latest version - not the download link from account page - that links to old 1.017 version ) And check how it works on your machine! You're kinda' on the edge, but some folks have had great results on lower end machines. Worth a shot.

I agree with Brian. Try the demo its the only way to know for sure. Im not too familiar with your laptops video card. That might be your weakest point.

Also, remember that the demo IS the full sim, it's only limited by time and aircraft permissions. If you elect to go with the retail version, don't uninstall the demo, just enter the retail license key at the ROF site at the profile>license link. Fire up the sim, log in online with your chosen email and password, it'll synch with the ROF server which holds all your details and you'll have the full sim ready to go. Hope it works out for you! =MFC=Gunloon PS- if you liked IL2 1946, ROF will blow you away...the planes in IL2 feel like crude tinkertoys by comparison. Definitely hope it works out

Love. You can know all the math in the 'Verse, but take a boat in the air you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she oughtta fall down, tells ya she's hurtin' 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Hi LennysCopilot, Dont waste more time, donwload the demo, try all kind of settings and see if the girl smiles to you I have a average/low machine and runs very well here you have 14 days to test all the possible (game and video card) settings and you surely will not regret, this is the best flight sim nowadays. btw the demo option it's a great idea to deal with this kind of doubts, and to get a real impression about the sim, and at the end you are hooked Thanks for this opportunity 777Studios Good Luck LC Cheers

You may find that you can run some missions smoothly while others make the game run in "slow motion", regardless of graphics quality setting. If that is the case, it is because your processor can't handle that many rendered objects, and turning down the game options won't help. Quick dogfights should not be a problem, but campaign missions could.

Yeah but download the demo from the alternative mirror site not the RoF site as I tried about three times to download the demo on RoF site and gave up due to it being too slow - until I found the alternative mirror site which is much much faster. I probably would have bought the game ages ago if I had actually been able to try the demo.

I really like Il-2 1946, and I've been thinking of getting Rise of Flight as well. It looks like a lot of fun!
I'm wondering if Rise of Flight might be too much for my computer to handle. Right now, I can run Il-2 1946 pretty well, so long as I don't have my graphics turned up too high and there isn't too much going on at once (flak, etc.).
I don't know as much as I should about computers, but here are my specs:
Toshiba Satellite A505-S6980 Graphics: Intel GMA 4500 MHD Dynamic Video Memory Technology 5.0 Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 processor 2.2 GHz 4 GB DDR2 RAM
Thanks for your help! I'm sorry but I think it will be impossible to run RoF on that rig, or any other demanding game. I have a Sandy Bridge i5 laptop with the "Intel HD Graphics 3000" GPU that is way faster than any old integrated CPU:s like the GMA 4500. I can actually run Civ 5 on it with low settings, but it is a slide show. These integrated GPU:s are really way off any real GPU in performace... The problem will unfortunately get even worse if you run Windows 7 x64 as a dual core CPU is a no-no in RoF with W7 x64... I have really bad stuttering on my Core 2 Duo E8400 with a GTX580 GPU. It is simply unplayable but Jason (the producer of RoF) has been frank and said they don't support Windows 7 x64 on dual cores and recommend XP instead so that is fine with me. The reason for the weird combo of a GTX580 in a E8400 rig is that I have all the other hardware for my i7 2600k Sandy Bridge rig accept the Obsidian 650D chassis that is in high demand and arrives tomorrow.... Had to open one of the boxes at least and get some joy out of the last hours of my old Core 2 Duo rig The whole reason for upgrading to an i7 2600k is actually RoF as CoD actually runs OK on my old rig with the latest beta patch. Was waiting to upgrade for CoD but it is the RoF stuttering when having a dual core in Windows 7 x64 that pushed me over the edge. Tomorrow my agony in RoF will be over! Having said this - RoF is an awesome game so get another rig and buy it! And in any case, follow the advice and try the demo on your current rig - it may work on low settings to get it running at enough fps to understand you need this game!

Bad luck mate; you are missing a treat. You don't have any school-age children do you? I (and I suspect many other here) have used the: 'but darling, I'm only thinking of the children! Their education will suffer if we don't upgrade!' scam. Combined with finishing off long-standing unfinished DIY tasks to soften up the target, or after just after inducing multiple orgasms (hers not yours) if timed right usually works.

As your in the states have a look at sager - the clevo P150 with a sandbridge CPU and a ati6970M will give better performance for the same price or less.
I'm running ROF on a Medion x6811 - i7-740QM, 6GB RAM & GTX 460m (a rebadged MSI GT663) - at 1080p at medium reflections/shaders, landscape high, trees at near, bloom/HDR off, raidrops on and x2 AA I get 30fps pretty much constant in a 30 aircraft quick mission. The 6970M (desktop equivalent 6870) has twice the horsepower of the gtx 460m (desktop equivalent GTS 450) so coupled with a quad sandybridge cpu you should get 10+ more fps easy. From my experience any quad core will do with the graphics card being more important - my i7-740QM seems to run ROF at 100% on one core with the others at 40% or below. The GTX 460M is my limiting factor.
Its worth looking at notebookcheck.net for reviews/comparisons and notebookreview.com for owner comments in the forums there.
Hope that helps
