Looks like you guys have all the goodies that this guy might need, can't think of anyone else that could collaborate as easily if they were interested, just thought you might want to take a look

Nice to hear people are still playing TF1942. I was co-designer and lead programmer on the project. I've been working at home on a new game that combines 1942: the Pacific Air War and Taskforce: 1942. I wrote both games and have wanted to re-do them both. The engine is mostly written at this point, but the problem is art. I have talked a couple of artists into helping me out, but they lack my enthusiasm to work in my spare time. So although I still work on it, the project will never really go anywhere until I get more art support. Sims aren't seen as big money makers, so I won't get any monetary support unless I've got something pretty much done....

Man, this sounds like a match made in Heaven! I LOVED TF 1942, my only problem was with the campaign AI. I won as the allies once and I never sent a sinle ship to Guadalcanal after the Battle of Savo. No ships, no reinforcements and I still won?

Ed also had some issues with flight sim dynamics. I lost a bit of interrest in Pacific Fighters after some of the folks on Compuserve's old Flight Sim Forum demonstrated how you could out turn a Zero with a TBD Devastator! The problem was that his flight model did not exhibit stalls/spins. Tom Basham and Stuart Butts (Wright Patterson Flight Test Engineer) tried to explain the dynamics of flgith to him and the concept of stall/spin.

If he's learned his lessons from the past, this could be a great project, especially if he had the help of the fantastic folks here.

For those interrested in the topic, Neptune's Inferno is a great read. Got me to get out my old Board Game Tokyo Express! :-)

crossing fingers!

Kevin

jawdrop

I've been wanting to hear/read this for 15 years!!!! 1942 PAW and TF 1942 are still two of my all time favorites. 1942 PAW was the first flight sim that I ever engaged in MP with, via 33.6 modem! I remember how we had to type messages back and forth, or use one of the few scripted messages you could send with a couple of key strokes, some of which you could customize. I remeber a buddy and I both had "Watch this Willie" (a Duke Cunningham quote) programed.

Please Please Please let this happen!!!!

That would be a good combination. Now get someone like Matrix Games or Battlefront to publish it and we would be all set.
