Hey guys!

I started a thread over at the "Event Photography" forum ( http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3283687.html#Post3283687 ), and this is an extension of that.

I spent the better part of the day several weeks ago at the "Museum of Flight" at Boeing Field in Seattle. After shooting over 200 photos (most notably in the WWI and WWII "Personal Courage Wing"), I thought I would share some with you (the WWII pics will be in the IL-2 Series forum).

Here they are:

--------------

As you climb the stairs from the WWII wing below, you're greeted with this. Way cool D.VIII!

--------------

Heading against the laid out flow (go figure...pilots going the wrong way), you come across this Snipe.

--------------

Pfalz D.XII

--------------

Spad XIII.

--------------

Neuport 28.

--------------

Camel chasing a Fokker D.VII

--------------

Dr I closing in on the Camel...lol.

--------------

Neuport 27.

--------------

Albatross D.Va

--------------

Peering into the cockpit of the Albatross.

--------------

Beautiful S.E.5a

--------------

One of MY favorites in "Rise of Flight"....the Sopwith Pup.

--------------

and finally,

The Sopwith Triplane.

--------------

An incredible display (sorry, but I put up MAYBE 1/2 of the pics I took of the WWI stuff...lots more stuff to see)! If you're ever in Seattle, you owe it to yourself to stop by and spend a few hours with these amazing flying machines. You'll be glad you did....

Have a great day all,

BBall

I wonder what that gauge is on the right side of the Albatros cockpit?

Edit..................

Its OK, looking at the ROF DVa cockpit the same gauge is there just more hidden by a strut, its fuel tank pressure.

I live in Seattle, been to the museum of flight more than once. The WW1 displays are really nice. My biggest gripe is the way some of the planes are suspended from the ceiling for display rather than parked on the ground. You really don't get a good close up view of them when the planes are hanging high above your head. It is really far better to inspect a plane you can approach on the ground. Also, as a footnote these are mostly all repos, not restored or preserved original planes.

Thanks guys.

Yeah, I wished ALL of the machines were on ground level. Hanging up is cool (should've seen the ceiling of my bedroom as a boy...dozens of model airplanes/helos!), but being at eye-level is better IMHO.

later all,

BBall

Well since they are repros, they should let you climb right in and wiggle the controls. Especially if you can prove you are a Rise of Flight customer and know how to properly care for them! whenpigsfly
