Hey Guys,

Below is a chart that lays out the tentative Field Mods slated for release with 1.019 and will go on Pre-Order soon. Prices are not finalized yet, but you will be able to buy in quantity to get a price break on total cost.

We hope you like.

As has been mentioned this is our starting place for Field Mods. I see a lot of discussion on the topic in other threads with a lot of wished. So, if it proves a success we may make more mods, but they are time consuming to make and implement so please do not expect more right away.

So another way for ROF to push the combat sim envelope and a new way to make flight-simming more interesting. :S!:

The French one is a little smaller, but essentially does the same thing.

I'm a little uneasy about the Aldis Trophy Gunsight, these would have been few and far between in real life, yet (i'm taking it) anyone who has paid for this will avail of it. I just hope this doesn't go down the route of some fps games with silly addons just to please the masses. I've bought every plane thus far and plan on doing so in future. I love flying this sim but don't want the experience/difficulty to be diluted artificially.

I'd far rather my money support planes going back the years in the conflict to give us a wider variety of planes and missions in each period.

Jason, some folk will say that this sim is slowly but surely turning to 'pay to win' with the introduction of "field mods", say it ain't so Joe. Been around since the beginning and its a pleasure to say that his here flight sim is the dogs doodahs.

These mods aren't going to turn anyone into an ace. Some folks try to argue that things like trackIR and rudder pedals give an unfair advantage over others, for example. Yet there are plenty of top aces in RoF that fly with neither. Your flying and shooting skill will still determine the outcomes.

Great news, Jason! Looking forward to the release of these mods.

Love. You can know all the math in the 'Verse, but take a boat in the air you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she oughtta fall down, tells ya she's hurtin' 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Just as a note guys, these mods arent a case of "Buy and you are the ace".

They are modelled very well and come with the historic limitations inherent. So a nice aldis might help long shots but wont help you up close.

What is cool is you can tailor your plane to your personal liking. Its as if you have your own personal mechanic and can dictate what you have and dont.

All in all its great to have something we have been asking for, for so long.

Lap it up, and chose wisely biggrin

Yeah, I don't think I buy the whole, "altering the game" thing. I mean, by the end of the day, if you're a crap pilot, these aren't going to make you better. That said...

I'm really looking forward to these. I think it's a great idea. Several times I wished I had a damned compass. smile Curious about the allied iron sights!

Only one plane has what I am calling an Allied Iron Sight. It's just the backsight to the DH.2. Nothing to get too excited over.

So... if the option was going to be added to remove the current Iron-sights from the Pfalz D.XII and the Nieuports - the chart would look completely identical to the current one??

(still hoping)

Thats what I figured. Still, be nice to have the option. Keep up the great work, Jason. My compliments to the crew.

Is there a way to sticky the settings for fuel, convergence, etc- that can also be applied to field mods? It's a bit tedious to constantly have to reset everytime I fly each plane.

So how does this work? If i buy the Aldis, I will get it on all those planes noted in the list? Pay for cockpit lighting and I will get it for nearly all planes. So in total there are 16 mods to purchase.
Will there be an option to not fly with one or the other mod, on one or several planes, if I choose?

..and lead us not into temptation......I'll find it myself.

No you buy a mod kit per plane. There as many mod kits as there are planes.

There will be a discount for multiple kits purchases. You choose which mods you want to take with you on your mission in the hangar.
