what an ugly bird... it must have been a real Fiat, flimsy, underpowered, underarmed, with many unnecessary features and lacking the most necessary ones (like a radio...) reported performance as follows: - ceiling variously reported between 9800 and 10700 m - top speed variously reported between 470 and 485 km/h - range 670 km - rate of climb 45 fps=15 m/s - max TO weight 2415 kg did some tests in COD and found out the following: - top speed: at 300/500 m altitude in level flight it never exceeds 350 km/h, even in a meticulously trimmed plane - ceiling: took off at max TO weight and climbed up to 3500 m before blewing an oil gasket... sustained rate of climb no more than 8 or 9 m/s around 2000 m altitude - then I started off at an altitude of 10500 m, tried to hold level flight and couldn't, when I dropped at 8000 I was still struggling and quit... my impression is that maybe the practical ceiling for the COD model is around 6000 m I am no expert but my impression is that it's maybe missing some 200 of the reported 840 Hp power So be advised, it's a really weak ride... Ciao, nibbio

Badmouthing Fiats? And done by an Italian? What's the world coming to?! I like Fiats ^Still remember a holiday with my parents on Malta in the late 70s where my dad had the "civilian" version of this car as a rental car. I loved that thing to bits, especially the sunroof. ^ My brother used to own this one. Sweet little car! I even like the G50 ... it's not as pretty as the beautiful Macchis (202/205), but at least it's not quite as ugly as the Macchi C.200 .. Those test-results of yours certainly look worrying. But, alas: More FM-trouble in CoD .. no big surprise. I've already posted in the bugs-thread about some weird behaviour by the 110s which will start shaking wildly at around 470/480 kph indicated and lose parts well before their rated safe dive-speed. Try to go over 15.000ft with a spit or a 109 (CEM)! Which is why I don't understand why 90% of the servers I find have CEM enabled. OTOH, Spit Is are pretty much useless with CEM off ... oh, well ... S.

I prefer the British version:
Fun in a Taxi
IIRC this was coined during the times when Fiat was still spelled "F.I.A.T."

Hey guys! you know why Ford exists? Because at least one car company has to be worse than Opel!
It rushed along like an arrow, but when you lost control you could end up beneath its hoofs. Aleksandr Ivanovich Pokryshkin comment on the MiG-3

Hey guys! you know why Ford exists? Because at least one car company has to be worse than Opel! Yes--really sad-i remember the time when Opel build some nice cars. My Granddad had an Opel Kapitän, really nice one..But since the 80es they build only GM-crap... Well--only a car with the engine behind you is a good car ;-)

As a person with Italian (among others) ancestry, I find this whole thread highly offensive. However, every time I get worked up enough to try to post a really good angry rebuttal, I can no longer type as my hands are no longer anywhere near the keyboard.
Actually I rented a Fiat during a trip to Ireland a few years ago. Interesting car. Fun to
drive, quirky, and with the odd habit of giving you the feeling it wanted you dead every once and a while . . . Drove an Alfa Romeo last year-was quite an experience. Raced through the "green hell"-lots of fun and really scary sometimes.. A mate of mine is specialist for Alfa and owns a Giulia racing car-thats an italian car i would drive. But as with most vintage italian cars-1hour of driving and 2h of fixing after.. Its a pity they ruined their reputation with all the crap after the Guilia. But Fiat-never ever in my whole life.....did they ever built a decent car in their whole time as manufacturer? Can´t remember one...

.....did they ever built a decent car in their whole time as manufacturer? Can´t remember one... Tsk, tsk, tsk Blacksky... ^ Former holder of the World speed record ^ One of the best super-minis ever. Second only to the original Mini, IMO. And of course, this: Oh well.. err.. maybe not... Plus, technically, all Alfas, Lancias and Ferraris of the last 20 years or so, are in facts Fiat-cars... Not that I'd care much for modern Alfas or Lancias. They used to be great brands with astonishing cars ... the old Delta, the Stratos, the Monte Carlo or the Alfa GT Junior, Giulia, Spider, etc. And of course those incredible Alfa-engines like the 2000 DOHC or the 3-liter V6 ... *sigh*.
