Not just getting , we have a lot .
I am a catholic southbavarian, and hell, we ( except munich ) are very conservative religious people, sometimes even more than the pope in Rome . ( I forgot, he is bavarian. )
After our sunday morning church-visit we are forced to go to an local "Frühschoppen" and take a few beer.
But I like to be free man, and wasn´t there for many years .Since then , nobody like me anymore. No joke .

Oh God (<-sorry!) I shouldn't be posting this, but:

Boandl: I think there's a difference between a conservative catholic and a full-blown *fundamentalist*. I have nothing but respect for religious folk, I sometimes wish I had their faith. But: Once a religious zealot/fundamentalist tries to force his views upon others, that's were the respect stops for me.

I haven't heard (yet?) that schools over here were forbidden to teach children about evolution for one thing .. Or of museums were creationalists tried to squeeze things like fossilized dinosaurs into the whole "the earth was created in 7 days"-thesis.

My Irish grandmother, born 1906, died 1991 was as religious as they come, as conservative as it's possible for a Catholic to be. She covered her hair at Mass until the day she died. And "God's Teeth!" was her exclamation-of-surprise of choice!

Any group of people one might want to group together will will have all the range of the descriptions one might want to come up with. Even an individual will be full of contradictions.

Funny thing with the 'name' of God/god. It was a cultural thing way back during the time of Moses among some of the cultures that to know the name of a god was to have some power over the god or to have some magical power because you could say that god's name. Hence, when God responded to Moses it may have been more like 'my name is none of your business, I am who I am and that should be enough'.

As a person with Christian belief, and I know this is a Flight Sim forum, but since we are on the subject, i feel compelled to say a few things. With respect to your comment that "fundamentalist"

"Christians" are hate filled, spiteful etc.. and I will add a few more, malicious gossips and backbiters, and hypocrites.. And I actually agree with you, I notice you did not say "all" but "some".

But you know something? God knows who those people are, to be a Christian is to be a follower, or "Christlike". We are supposed to go by His example and try to live the way He wants us to. I could say a

lot more but I wont bore you much more. But I can tell you Christians, both Catholic and Protestant are loving, kind, generous, meek, gentle and good folk. Ok?? If they are not, then they simply are

not really Christians. As for taking the Lords name in vain to me the worse thing you can say is the "G__ D__" words, which is without a doubt profanity and breaking the commandment. Other uses of the

word for Deity, may or may not be a sin. I dont wish to argue with you about "God's Teeth" "Godspeed" etc. THose may be innocent expressions similar to "God Bless".. I think it depends on how you meant

them. Were you intentionally mocking God?, being irreverent ? etc. You see God looks at the heart. He knows how you meant it. No one is getting away with anything.. be sure.

I also am what some would call "fundamentalist" christian, which BTW only mean you hold to the fundamentals of a faith or entity. Like a fundamentalist American etc. Personally I have never heard of the term Gods Teeth. Don't quite know what the implication is. Anyway, to non believers, misusing God's name means you are dragging through the mud someone to whom we have tremendous love and respect for. It would be similar to calling your sister/mother/wife/daughter etc a whore or any number of filthy words. It might spark a reaction.

I know you don't believe in Him, but we do, and as such, to ask for respect means to give respect. That and let's face it, some on the internet are just disrespectful because they are anonymous.

I struggle to understand how some are ok with a game in which u can kill people or burn them to death in a flaming aircraft, yet they can't deal with a historical colloquialism. Gods teeth was a common saying back in the day. This game strives for historical accuracy. Let's keep it in that context
