^ Well, FFB was *developed* with sims in mind. I certainly don't miss it in Civilization 4 or Team Fortress 2 ... biggrin

It is hard to understand why a game that goes to the Nth degree in eye candy, damage modeling, flight modeling etc, etc, etc, yet doesn't have FFB. banghead

There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB.
The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed.
There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

I use all CH Products FS/PT/PP/TQ(No FFB). I use Track IR.

I know there's many people that swear by FFB, but I have yet to understand how it helps with your gunnery. I couldn't imagine playing Medal of Honor and trying to precision aim when my mouse started vibrating and tugging my hand around. I guess I'm in the camp that have learned the precision thing by listening to the aircraft and using the guages. But I can see how it would help with giving you the sensation when you're getting close to your plane's limits, but something forcing my hand around would probably make me throw it away lol.

Either way, I bet this will be implemented in the future.

It doesn't help with gunnery, quite the contrary in fact. What I like about FF is that it provides additional sensory feedback. Feeling the plane starting to shake as you approach a stall or feeling the controls stiffen with increasing speed just provides that extra bit of immersion IMO.

Sadly, since I got my Warthog HOTAS I've retired my trusted MSFF2.

But I certainly miss it sometimes.

I understand a lot of people don't get or don't like, or have never tried FFB but to outright claim it is a waste of development resources is ridiculous to be honest. Should the developers not waste time and resources programming support for TrackIR? Or support joysticks with sliders/trim wheels and rudders? Or bother putting in an online mode because doing so would be wasting time on frills and features that only a small minority of people use?

I would say the answer to all of the questions would be, "don't be ridiculous".

I don't know, with FFB I feel the plane way better, I know when I'm going to stall etc.. and you can have just small inputs when firing weapon, you don't need big forces that makes your gunnery harder.

I've played in il-2 multiplayer with FFB and I've never had a problem firing on others.

Really it's like saying that you should disable force feedback in my wheel when I play GTR. No I won't smile

I agree with you guys about it's something that needs to be developed and made part of the sim. There's a whole bunch of people that love FFB in the flight sim community along with SYN.

After re-reading the translation of what Luthier said, it sounds like FFB will be worked on at some point at a later date. I didn't see anything about it permanently being gone. Just something along the lines of their plates are full it's moved to a later date. But until some clarification has been made, it's all speculation anyhow. I just can't see FFB being gone forever when it is pretty standard for today's sims.

@Nikko - When I played iracing, I actually got better lap times with FFB disabled. Granted I didn't really play it all that much.

As one of the apparently er......."Not Many", that use a FF stick I'm surprised and disappointed that Force Feedback has not been included. It works so well in IL2: 1946 that many of us "Not Many" took it for granted that it would naturally be a valued feature in this sim. Obviously the developers have bigger fish to fry at the moment.

I don't think CoD should have been released in it's current state, maybe as a paid beta like A10. It has too many important missing/broken components that should have been included/resolved before release imo.
I can't help feeling this is a launch and abandon ship scenario!

No FFB, that is the least of their troubles. After downloading the Russian version and playing with that for a couple of hours. I've cancelled my pre-order.

I may revist in a few months to see if it has improved/I've upgraded my i7@4.2 and GTX480.

Until then it'd be a waste of space on me HDD.

Off the top of my head.

Logitech G940 HOTAS (I use on of these)
MS FFB2, now not in production but an excellent and popular joystick. Can be very expensive to find second hand.
Logitech Force 3D (a good cheapish FF stick)
Saitek Cyborg evo Force (another choice for those on a tighter budget)

There are others available so plenty of choice to fit all budgets.

I just fired up the game and it was hard to control th eplanes with my g940.FFb is definitely missing there is only this shocking centering force which I wasn't able to turn off.If i disable FFB completly G940 is too slopy around the center.Hope there is a way to just get mild centering force otherwise it really kills the enjoyment from flying

"While I can not say for sure - sorry, we like it had never promised it all the time we have been postponed for later. And now more important issues do not allow her to give."
Seems pretty straightforward, it has been postponed for later. Of course it should have been in the release though. Looks like my FFB2 will be useless for a while frown

They do not implement a basic technology that is over 10 years old and coded into every sim on the market.... un friggin real....... Well as long as the stick forces are there I can deal with it.. I dont use the full FFB effects anyway... the gunshake and all that... but I need the stick forces... and if this doesn't support FFB stick forces than I just may not even buy it because I refuse to buy another stick just to fly this thing... and if I cant even fly it.. then I will not be buying it..

Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.

Well Brigstock. how about a mini review. I am sure there are others (like me) that are on the fence right now.

Personally I dont care about FFB, I use a CH Fighter stick and Simped rudder pedals. I hear but dont know that there are creaking
sounds and audio clues to pulling hi G's such as in the HSX 5.0 mod patch I use for my IL2FB v4.10.1

I hear those creaks and noises and I instictively ease off the stick.. Works great for me. yep

my system: Intel Core I7 920 @ 3570ghz
Asus P6T MB
6 GB OCZ DDR3 RAM , dram freq 680 mhz, NB freq 2720 mhz
Radeon HD 4870 w/ 1 Gb vram
OS.. Windows 7 professional 64 bit
WD 2 TB hard disk drive etc.

With that kind of system, you should have had a decent experience.

Did you reboot your computer before playing?

Did you disable Steam Cloud?

There are quite a set of suggestions from users which can improve the experience.
