Damn, I feel really quite gutted. I think I'm now 50-50 on actually buying the damn game. Not sure I want to go through the aggro of waiting with it in hand until it ever becomes flyable. It may never be what I dearly wanted it to be. Massive disappointment here, in the context of it's just a game and not a damn tsunami, there are a whole lot of worse things to worry about in this world. Still, as I say, I'm really annoyed and erring on the side of not actually buying a sim I spent £700 to get ready for. Anyway, I needed the upgrade and was always meaning to pick up DCS A-10

Good post Ming
The tone of Luthier's statement seems to be that the game could cause problems, hopefully they can address that.

Anyway, I needed the upgrade and was always meaning to pick up DCS A-10 Do it! Now! You're in for a learning curve that'd last you for about the same time it'd take for Oleg to "remove the filter":D

I don't have epilepsyAre you sure? How would you know until something bad happens? You do not have to 'have' epilepsy in order to be susceptible to seizures caused by large-area flashing light, you have a brain apparently. It's this very brain that gets the flashing-light input (at some 'special' frequency to be discovered) that disassociates the nervous system, which operates under the waving conducting batons of a small number of hardware 'clocks' built from electro-chemical jelly deep down there in the creamy-grey stuff. Sorry for the brain-porn but so you can see more clearly that the brain is (sometimes deeply) affected by having these Mark One eyeball inputs at the front where the action is going on Think of this troublesome large-area flashing as jamming your inbuilt radar Ming And how about people with an allergy to nuts (potentially fatal too)? Do they know about it before they choke and swell on a peanut? Should we ban nuts in that case? What else shall we ban and prevent, lest some poor minority soul falls foul of it? Life itself maybe? Then there's the TV of course. Seems a vocal warning is considered adequate, but only on the news, and only before flash-photography. But Ubi think the problem is sooo serious they need to destroy seven years of somebodys work on a game. Apparently a warning isn't enough ("This game may induce an epileptic seizure!!!"). Oh, but damnit, maybe a non-epileptic might be playing it and somebody prone to fits might be walking outside in the street, catch a glimpse through the windows and go into one. Poor Ubi! The chances of them being sued! The dollar...won't somebody think of the dollar!

How about an opt-out EULA stating that UBI and 1C are absolved of any lawsuits per injuries if the wrapper is disabled? Hell, if bungee jumping companies can do the same sort of thing, surely a video game company can.
This is like saying everyone needs to do chemo treatments forever cause you may have or sometime develop cancer in your life. Of course, I am being facetious in a way, but c'mon. This kind of common-sense is clearly way beyond the intellectual capabilities of anyone working for Ubi.

It may never be what I dearly wanted it to be. You feel gutted because of a massive disinformation campaign by haters. Relax, wait and see if the sim is really crap or not. Maybe it could just be a brilliant flight sim. We'll know soon enough. I'm heartened that hardly anything is coming out of Russia. They're too damn' busy flying the sim!

OK, explain me this. Maddox et. al. have an epileptic filter in their new sim, but ED has recently released 2 titles without any such FPS-crippling hindrances. How come?
PS. And no, I'm not being snarky. Just curious. Because a) It's not a legal requirement and b) Ubi is staffed by (insert your choice of descriptive term here. Mine is unprintable).

I ponder on the intellectual capabilities of those who buy the "ultra hard-coded protection which we resented, but now that you mention it Ubi had nothing to do with" stuff.

Jason DFW CV is causing me severe seizures, when jumped on by unacceptable number of tommies. Fix it or I sue.

Please. We're not in here, should not be in here, comparing two different simulations from two different teams. It's not fair to either.

Jason Can you add some Spits & 109's to your sim, please? I'd pay a lot for that plane pack.

Please. We're not in here, should not be in here, comparing two different simulations from two different teams. It's not fair to either. But I had, in fact, already wondered if there was such a filter in RoF. And I'm very glad to learn there's not. Not legally required after all.

Jason I think it is not a good idea that a sim maker editor comes here to criticize the work of other teams. And ROF has other problems.

What crappy situation for them. And I never say anything bad about other teams. Unlike other teams have done to us on SimHQ. Jason
