Maybe all this is a big coincidence, but it signals a big buyer beware sign to me. Oleg doesn't have to develop to be involved. A larger, faster development team at Oleg's disposal and he would completely own the flight sim world. Combat and civilian,PC and every other platform.

Which is kind of interesting in light of some of Oleg's comments a while back regarding the ENGINE for IL2:Cod. It was mentioned that this engine could be used by third party developers for civilian sims - engulfing more than just WW2 ere aircraft. And of course I think everyone remembers that it was said that CoD could develop into a Battlefield 1942 type scenario.

Think ID software and how their engine was used on many different games. If memory serves me right it was the defacto FPS engine for a while until Unreal Tournament.

I'd assume Oleg owns the engine, while UBI owns the rights to CoD.

Ah, now I see why Nuggetx has been slagging CoD down all this time! Can't we like 2 sims? I will play both.

Hahahaha too funny, Oleg quitting didnt seem to be considered a topic not belonging here, whereas announcement of a title with the IL-2 Sturmovik name in it, is a condemnable lie?
Nice turn around..

I just hope they tighten up the mission timers. One time in the demo I almost had to land! Thankfully I was saved from this with a fading black screen, but they need to shorten the time between "win" and "fail" of mission objectives if I am to learn the short attention span required for consoles.

I don't get it. Somethings about wop were a game killer. To small of a map, to short of offline time, stupid AI, unable to see planes at even an IL2 distance. But, I did not find the flight dynamics bad. And in dogfights, not much different distance than an engagement in IL2. So, I enjoyed the game with a limited set of players. With a large group I never had a chance to fly without being shot down from planes popping in to existence on such a small map. I found it fun. But I am happy to fly IL2.

And who knows, maybe WoP2 will be WoP1 graphics+CoD FM/DM+Engine Management? All I`m saying is dont be so quick to judge (Although I certainly know where youre coming from!(

Clearly Nuggetx has no friends over at WOP because no one is there. SO he has to come here and still have no friends but at least he has someone to talk to.

I don't know if he has ever stopped to think about why people still support COD even though it's taken a long time. Why people still play Il-2 sturmovik. And why people dropped WOP like a bomb and no one is there.

Lacks what I consider realism in my opinion, WOP is very much like a Hollywood movie, some people love them, which is fine.

The game could be good, but I'm not convinced their developers are capable or willing to make something other than a console port. Without dedicated servers the MP will be a disaster. Without SDK to mod the game and breath new life into it, it will end up having support dropped again by Gaijin so they can make some sh1tty Apache l33t strike ROFLCOPTER: Dragon Rising 2.

I have Sicilian friends who might get a tad perturbed about this whole WoP2 thing anyway, so I am just gonna go away.

I quite enjoy WoP sometimes. just depends on my mood. I like Ace Combat too. It depends if I want to see explosions everywhere, or take a more considered approach.

I too liked some aspects of WOP. For a start the terrain is the best I've seen in any sim to date. Once you've set up the post processing to taste it can look stunning. The FM/DM wasn't too bad and the lighting was spot on too. Then there were the other touches like water on the cockpit glass when flying through a cloud....very nice.

But, and a big but at that. The canned missions were dire and timed fail succeed triggers absolutely killed it for me. Add the poor viewing distance and annoying radio chat, I was soon hanging up my goggles.

Hope springs eternal though and I keep my install up to date in the hope that something miraculous like a mission builder and user made missions pop up out of nowhere, just like they keep promising.

Why do you guys keep degrading the term "sim" when you say WoP is a sim? It's not. Unless I can employ the same type of logic and say COD4 is a sim.
