I wonder if fuel consumption will be modelled for online missions.

For example, the mission starts in the air over the coast of England, fighters escorting several bombers, will the escorting fighters have the correct amount of fuel removed ?

It's only a small detail but might make a big difference tactically if the 109's only have 10 minutes potential combat time over SE England before having to decide whether to turn for home or chance ditching in the channel.

Maybe a fuel remaining, distance to emergency airfield, can be calculated to decide if a plane makes it back or not.

The channel after all was a big psychological barrier for combat pilots, I think it would be cool if it was part of the tactical awareness mix that faces the Axis forces.

If this happens I can see a lot of eager 109 pilots ending up in the drink.
Nice idea though.

I would love that but would need some sort of "cheat" to tell me its time to go back to the beach

I am looking forward to the juggling act, strangely keeping an eye on the glowing low fuel light, while trying to nurse a possibly damaged bird back home excites me smile definately will add atmosphere I think!

The problem with the World is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

Will definitely be nerve wracking if you are also being chased by a bunch of Hurris and Spits who have 3/4 full tanks biggrin

Any self-respecting sim would have that supremely important aspect of BoB in it. Let's hope it is in CoD!

I would think it is up to the mission designer to set the fuel load out for air start missions.

If the mission builder is like IL-2 You are probaby correct.

Depending on the level of immersion you want to create the bombers and fighters could take off from France and have to fly all the way to England. The pilots in England would stay on the ground and be sitting in their cockpits with nothing to do until the bomber stream got close enough to sortie them for an interception.

Judging by the FMB screenshots it looks very much like the same FMB builder (of course with added objects etc) from IL2.

Yes, would be great to have a "real time' mission online like that, though I'm sure some will get a little bored waiting for the scramble order (probably just as good to have most pilots on TS and have someone in game on the ground listening to the radar reports or if we're lucky, someone can be the radar operator).
