The earthquakes happened about 500 or 600 kilometers from me but I still felt them.
Normally an earthquake is over in about 10 or 20 seconds but the main earthquake lasted for between 1 and 2 minutes.
The images are just unbelievable and as I write large fires started 5 hours after the quake.
After we felt the quake we turned om the TV and quickly got the news and predictions of a tsunami but we never realized how devastating it was.
Luckily my children are on spring vacation and are at home, thanks for asking.
