I'm eager to try DCS A-10 on a triple-screen setup, but I'm gaming on an HD 5770. Will my card cut it? How does DCS perform on normal cockpit view (with cockpit visible, not HUD-only) on tri-screen?

Thanks!

I'm not sure; depends on your hardware and display configuration. I run a 5870 on a
amd hexacore (1090T) with 3x24" (1920x1200) and 8gb's of ram I avg 27 FPS (max 78, min17)with no AA, HDR, TSAA or mirrors.

I'm looking into changing CPU's

Ice I am running a 5850 and have it setup so my center screen is the cockpit view the left screen is left MFD and right screen is....wait for it.... the right MFD.

All three screens ARE 24" DELLS RUNNING AT 1920x1200.

It was super easy to setup that way and the FPS are OK. although I still get stutters.

It depends on what resolution you're looking to play. If it's just the one main res of 1920x1080/1200 then you should be ok. If it's a combined resolution of all the multiple monitors like 5760x1080 or something I think you're going to struggle with it - especially in the eye candy department.

Yes, I want 1920x1080 3x24" screens with all 3 screens showing the game. No AA, HDR, TSAA and mirrors are fine. I don't have weeds on my setup too.

Is DCS CPU or RAM dependent? Or is it mainly GPU dependent?

You should be fine then as the gpu is only pushing out 1920x1080 regardless of screen size/multiple monitors. At that res you can even crank up the AA/HDR a bit. Might I enquire - why not just play on a big screen tv then? Same rez without the bezels.

At this stage it looks as if the game's more memory dependent than anything else - hence all the problems with 32bit OSes. But as a high fidelity sim everything is important. You need the CPU for all the complex plane systems, avionics, AI, flight dynamics etc... and the gpu to make it look good. Unfortunately (or thankfully) this is not a brainless console type game like Hawx or WoP where all you need is a decent GPU to play it.

Sorry for the confusion. I want 3 24" screens each displaying 1920x1080.

So you want to see the entire game span across all 3 of you monitors? If so then basically what you're after is an Eyefinity setup and a total resolution of 5760x1080. The 5770 should be able to handle it but you'll be losing some eye candy features - plus it's borderline for later games. With DCS A-10's slightly older engine I think you'll just get away with it without AA/HDR but I think you'll have stutter problems if your cpu/memory/OS aren't up to scratch.

Check out this article for a more comprehensive review of Eyefinity, in particular the FSX comparison.

CPU is an i5 750, 4GB 7-7-7-24 DDR3 OCZ RAM, Win7 64-bit. Is that good?

Damn, I am so itching to buy 2 more screens. The idea is with wide-er screen views, looking left/right would feel more natural and the "peripheral vision" effect would add to the immersion. I've just upped all the detain in this sim except for water and civ traffic, 1024 res in cockpit, 2x MSAA, full shadows, no HDR, vysnc on, and I'm getting good performance on the Georgian Hammer mission. Obviously, things like overcast clouds and rain will take a big FPS hit, Devil's Cross gives me FPS in the high teens when on the ground and constantly stutters when I enter/exit the cloud base.
