CAVCPT Can you talk about the hardware used? Specifically pots or hall sensors used in the pedals? Thats one bit of info I've been looking for but can't find discussed anywhere. Thanks for the write up, at some point I'll need to replace my current Saitek pedals. The hardware got fried in those and the rudder and toe brakes are now wired to a Logitech Wingman digital, it works but as you can guess not like they used too!
I've got a bad feeling about this.....

Nice setup man! Thanks for the pics. I may have to go with just CH peds...but that's OK...I own an pair of them now but they are old and spike alot. Guess I could replace the pot but might just be as easy to sell 'em and get a new set.

OH! Quick question....what monitor do you have? Is that an LG monitor or just an LCD TV? Do you like that setup?

Toe brakes! Saweet! It was weird flying the A10C with my feet on the floor. This is my first Saitek hardware piece - always liked them but preferred Thrustmaster - but do these rubber paddles (a squadron term) outshine the (ancient) RCS, or what? NO question - these are well built, quality gear pedals. :-) With my Thrustmaster Warthog, I did not want to hang the old Cougar off of the puter for the RCS, and the toe brakes were something I have always wanted. I like the Warthog HOTAS replication in DCS A10C and want to leave the HOTAS assignments as they are in the game / airplane - where in the past I had Foxy assignments on throttle buttons to do braking on the tarmac. Logictech G27 pedals next to Saitek Combat Pro Flight pedals I pushed the pedals up to the subwoofer under my desk to limit the forward travel of the base - I do this with my racing pedals, as well. But these pedals have adjustable angles for the brakes and at the lower angle settings the pedals travel beyond the base. I will insert a piece of wood between the subwoofer and these pedals to insure full pedal travel at any toe brake angle setting. Wrecking Crew Smooth Operators Squadron We fly so that others may die!

Wrecking Crew,
Bro! That massive setup is awesomr but where are your Thrustmaster MFDs? Best 50 bucks you can spend for playing A-10.

Hi CAVCPT - After I read your suggestion yesterday, I sat back and looked at my "flight deck" and started mentally designing the brackets to hold my new MFDs - thanks A BUNCH for sending me back to the drawing board, my friend! :-) I'll likely discard the wood base that I've mounted my Warthog on, in favor of a slightly bigger one that has some backstop to mount the MFDs onto. I'll prolly mount a USB hub to the board, too, and tie down all the cables such that I'll only need to plug in the hub cable and power. You're absolutely right - at $50 they are now "missing" from my setup. Thanks for the suggestion - I'm heading over to the Thrustmaster website to check out the MFDs. Wrecking Crew Update - ordered a two-pack - $53 from www.provantage.com!

Therion,
I'm gonna say pots only because I can't find anything that suggestes hall sensors. I'll keep looking though.

Anyone else having trouble with the toe brake axis on their combat pedals? Mine is acting haywire, sometimes returns to 50% instead of going down to 0% once the pedal is released. This happens on both axis so its not like its just one bad sensor. It works correctly maybe 15% of the time basically rendering it useless. Will be contacting Saitek but I doubt there is a fix other than RMA.

Got mine today and with only some brief exposure to them, I like them alot. How do you adjust the angle of the pedals? There's an allen wrench tucked into the bottom of the base that is used to unscrew the hubs on both sides of the axle on each pedal. Pull out the hubs on both sides a little bit and you can make the angle adjustment. WC

Pots vs. Hall Sensors Answered: The new pedals are the same base as the old ones, the new ones have a metal top end where as the old ones have plastic foot pedals, they have always used pots so the new Combat Rudder Peddals use pots.
If you have further inquiries please do not hesitate to get back to us.
Sincerely,
Mad Catz Tech Support Team Hope that helps. Flying Colander

I pulled out the two sides and tried to move it, but it would not budge and I didn't want to force it. Do I also need to pull out the round thing with white line (that points to the angle number)? Sounds simple, but I don't want to force it. Thanks again. Hi Killjoy12 - Sorry, Its been a little while since I got back to this thread. When I adjusted mine I actually pulled out the whole hub on both sides of the first pedal - I was able to put it back together, no problem. If I remember correctly, you should be able to pull out just the center piece. And you need to do both sides of each pedal. Hopefully you've already gotten them adjusted by now... Wrecking Crew
