Wow, and I thought that mixed types was a feature that I was lacking smile.

With the jasta and the date I can take a look. Glad that you got the download. I did try to mail it to you but it got kicked back.

I did it all the time in the past by post editing the created mission file, trying to simulate the introduction of a new type and it worked like charm...
but I haven't tried 7.0, with it's new features yet...

Would it be allowed to mirror the download?

As always, I try to do minor features bug fixes in between major releases. I wanted some feedback as to what people would like to see. What I already have is below. Anything else?

This is what's in 7.1right now:
New Features:
- Moved over 100 parameters to the config file - use at your own risk
- Flight altitude parameters
- Many campaign parameters
- Many mission parameters
- Added the Gotha (used for GothaIV and V, AEG, and Alb CX and CXII types)
- Eliminated the climbout waypoint to shorten missions
Bug Fixes:
- Tweaked promotion algorithm to slow promotions. (now also user configurable)
- Tweaked skill advance algorithm. (now also user configurable)
- Changed combat report button text to Automatic and Manual AAR
- Added an extra ingress WP to ground attack missions to allow approach at alt.
- Tweaked boundaries for which ground objects are added (now also user configurable)

Here are known bugs:
bug: jasta 16b 1.9.1916 Player gets an E.III even though he owns Alb D.II
bug: early Alb D.II is not in game correctly
bug: flights out of designated paths (need squadron/date)
bug: Some airfields have incorrect takeoff positions. User configurable, but I would like to explicitly fix as many as possible.
Question: Looking for E.III opponents for DH2 - Possible fix, always include an enemy scout squadron
Question: Looking for Scout opponents for Fokker D.VIIf - Possible fix, always include an enemy scout squadron

These are Great news ideed!
Pat, you are the best! winner
I was looking forward to the promotion slowdown...Thanks!
I have a small petition to make, if possible...
Could a slider be implemented at the RoF screens as I play in a resolution of 1600x900 and I'm missing things in the vertical axis... nope
Please! frown

An example: I'm loosing the tabs at the bottom, the same happens to the configuration and report screens

Pat,

I accidentally deleted RofCampaign V7.0. Sorry about that. I uploaded it again. You can find it via this link: http://www.wingsofhonour.com/forums/ipboard/index.php?/files/file/2-rofcampaign/

Again, sorry.

By the way you can replace an outdated version by the new one by clicking on 'Upload new version' to be found on the bottom of the outdated file's download page.

Wishing I was in the La Cloche
Once again thanks Patrick for V7, for figuring out/importing the RoF report (works like a charm so far), the airfield AAMG placement, and all the other features.
Haven't had to use the AAMG yet, but nice to know you can 'even-the-odds' if chased back to friendly territory. As far as game play goes, so far so good! The EIII/DII bug is not a big deal (I can edit the mission file), and in fact I might have never enjoyed the experience of the EIII in a campaign. It really is a nice crate to fly and shoot with, very stable platform, perhaps too well mannered for a wing-warper but hey, who knows...

Since you invited constructive suggestions:

Perhaps I misread an earlier post (and am certainly not looking a gift horse in the mouth), but I thought you mentioned wind sock placement? If so I haven't seen one yet.

Is it possible for the Generator window to be resized/enlarged? I can click and drag the border, but the content stays the same size.

The config menu is really a lovely touch, and I like the help button explanations. Can the left column also be numbered, or perhaps alternate dark/light rows to aide the eye in following across the columns? Since you are adding 100+ items to this menu, it may be hard on the eyes.

Now that we get detailed mission report/outcome data, can the 'Squadron board' reflect player and AI pilot status? i.e. if a wingmate is wounded or dies, can that info be included on another column? Then wounded (or on leave?) pilots are not available for missions for a random time period. Also maybe just me, but I think it is important that when AI wingmates die that their names and achievements/score aren't removed from the squadron list.

Can player and AI medals appear on Squadron List window beside the name? That may get busy (perhaps use officer title abbreviations? Lt. Hpt. ...), but it could be a nice one-stop place to get an overall impression of the squadron, rather than have to drill into a number of AI personal files and then try to keep it all straight...

Best regards!

The windsock should be there - fifty meters to the left of your starting position. I will double check to make sure.

Doing something with "Wounded" status hs been on the to-do list forever. Still don't havea reliable way to measure the degree of the wound.

The 100 extra items will not be in the GUI, at least not yet. They were hard coded directly in the code. Now they have been extracted to the config file. I do have explanations next to most of them butI would need to do some serious work on the config screen to get them in there. Good idea, but probably beyond 7.1.

In truth I am not the best Java GUI guy and Java Swing is definitely not the best GUI tool - at least given my abilities. I have been trying for an hour to get proper scroll bars onto the screen and while I am figuring it out ... yuck. Professionally I am a low level guy (real time connectivity stuff) with decent GUI experience but not true expertise.

I have had it in mind to give stretchable GUIs another go. It certainly can be done but there is a learning curve in it for me. Again, something that I want to do (I really want to go completely variable and full screen) but my skill level just isn't there yet. Maybe 8.0? I will take down all of the feedback and get it in as I am able. The ideas are good and the feedbackis appreciated.

Pat, you undersell yourself, your abilities have done us proud so far.
I've dabbled in VB and had a look at Java in the past. I've also looked at the actual missions the generator produces in mission builder.

I think you have done an excellent job with it so far. Well beyond my capabilities that's for sure. I'd be limited to a simple config editor at best.

Without your campaign, I think RoF would be stuck as a online only game.

I am loving this campaign generator Patrick, thanks for everything you have done so far. Your generator has almost single-handedly revived the SP aspect of Rof for me.

I have not seen a windsock in V7 yet, am I doing something wrong? Also does the windsock only appear at your home base?

I'll have to give the windsock a more thorough test. The code says it should be there but I didn't really test in game thoroughly. Should be easy enough to sort out.

I agree, I think you are under rating your achievements.
Some of those GUI suggestions I made are minor and certainly not worth any frustration they may cause.
I certainly wouldn't want to hear you've taken to juggling kittens, or anything like that... WinkNGrin

REALLY happy to hear that pilot status etc. is earmarked for the squadron board in the future. Flying campaigns in other sims I've taken to following the progression of the 'lucky' AI pilots. It's a lot of fun to watch when they beat the odds and make ace, and then look forward to flying with them in future missions.

Can the Java GUI support a font for the chalkboard that looks more handwritten? I'll look into it and experiment some...
The Lucida would be most appropriate for a Jasta chalkboard, no? biggrin

In the configeration setting it asks for the mission report directory...what do I out in this box so i can get automatic reports?

Also I too would like to see a scroll bar down the side of the ui as my resolution misses part off bottom 1440x900.

Oh also where is the startup cfg I have to alter to put that line in to get the auto to work?

Thanks

Oh great work again...my heart jumped a beat when I saw Be2 Fe2B etc etc when i saw opposing squadrons...god I wish

You can change the font of the chalckboard in the configuration menu by yourself...
I'm using this one called EraserDust and an old typewriter one called Adler for the mission description.
I have also changed the default paper backround with one of a higher res.

I think its the one in your ROF/DATA directory.
Its startup.cfg.
Open it in wordpad and change the mission text entry near the bottom from 0 to 1 and save it

I'm just trying it now.

GREAT WORK Pat!

Thanks.

I would like to edit squad/ace default skins. What files do I need to change?
