We know that the Cliffs of Dover is the start of a new IL-2 series that will extensively improve on every aspect of the original IL-2 series and add completely new features. What else do we need to know. If you enjoy the original you can't help but enjoy the new series more. All this for the unbelievably cheap price of 50 bucks every couple of years.

I live in Canterbury, my Grandmother was telling me earlier today how as a child she'd ran outside to watch a spitfire and messerschmitt dogfighting overhead (in Whitsable, you can see it just north of Canterbury!), and a stray bullet from one of the aircraft hit the ground a few feet away from them, leaving a hole in the floor! They moved inside after that! My great grandfather was also the chief of police in Whitsable, and a German pilot went down just off the coast near Herne Bay (just East of whistable..)
He appeared on the beach with a pistol but was quickly persuaded to give up and was taken to the police station..Apparently he was a "very nice chap" :-D
Random bit of family history for you there, lol...

128 player multiplayer is the best thing for me as i am mainly a multiplayer pilot. 128 players? that's one of those pie in the skies things I would have to see it to believe it. they'll be lucky if they can get dozen people into a coop.

Herne Bay, you say! When my Dad was stationed at Wrotham and Ashford he watched a FW190 at roof-top level beating it back to the Channel from there - and throwing it about like a rag doll! About 1943, I think.

The big problem is that we have a lot of info from around 2007ish. Since then the code has been rewritten (apparently). So, a lot of features related to weather and the dynamic campaigns may have been cut or delayed - the old information doesn't tell us. The game engine code was never rewritten, as it was never even completed until recently. It has certainly evolved in the last 7 years. Further additions to the series will come out alot faster now that the game engine code is finished, although the code can always be tweaked to accommodate whatever feature they're trying to add. They haven't cut the weather systems, they are just fixing bugs, and optimizing them, but are not sure it will be done before the initial release of the Cliff of Dover. The RAF campaign is done and German campaign appears to be done, we just arn't sure how Dynamic it will be.

MUCH code was most certainly rewritten! Do you even have a clue how many faces have changed over there ??? Please refrain from posting your nonsense. Posting blatant untruths is another.

Random bit of family history for you there, lol... Good tale and an interesting subject - casualties on the ground from dogfights - I found this thread which is quite interesting http://www.ww2f.com/aircraft/46709-ground-casualties-air-battles.html

We now know that they've been downscaling the game... Ilya Shevchenko Simon, the game is indeed extremely scalable. For the past six months all we've been doing is scaling it back. Basically we had built a 2013 game and had to pull it back into the present. Growth in the next couple of years will be very easy. We'll just flick a bunch of switches back on.
