1gig Galaxy nVidia video card
23" widescreen

When I run FSX, I do not get a widescreen view. Ideas?

What resolution?

Thanks for taking a moment to respond. I figured it out. My graphics card didn't have its driver installed although it seemed to work fine.
Poke me in the eye for not installing it...lol

To enable widescreen in FSX you need to edit you fsx.cfg file. Under [Display] you need to change 'Wideviewaspect=false' to 'Wideviewaspect=true'. This should sort it out. Although this wont change any resolution etc.. it will make FSX look better on wide screen monitors.

will this have any effect if I'm already at a wide screen rez, such as 1680x1050?

I found this out only yesterday and it works perfectly.

I run the game at 1360x768 on a 32" LCD and get the normal w/s and everything looks normal but I went into the CFG and changed this to True and the aspect ratio is the same but it sits you the correct distance from the panel without having to mess with the +/- buttons and gives you a more realistic view when using a 16:9 screen

I can't find the fsx.cfg file. Am I looking in the wrong place or is my install porked? installed on Win7 E drive

Any help or advice is welcome.

Well I don't have or can't find Appdata or Roaming after users\myname so think I will reinstall and see what happens.

Edit: Just found it. you have to have hidden files showing.
