Alright. So TRACK IR 5is being totally crazy:
The device will stop working after only a few minutes of use. No, I did not pause it. I've tried installing and uninstallxed the software for it, etc.
The natural point people said to check that the USB drives aren't turning off to conserve power. Initially I thought by ensuring they stayed on had fixed the problem but it looks like it hasn't.
This seems to come and go and is completely random, and occurs whether or not I am actually running a sim or not.
This is really starting to piss me off. If anyone has any ideas or has had this occur before, please tell me.

Also, in your PC's BIOS, be sure the C1-C2-C5 (And so on) suspend state is enabled. I was having a similar problem with my TrackIR 3 until I did this (As well as a problem with updating my iPhone's OS via iTunes).

THe TrackIR program freezes 30 seconds to 30 minutes into use, and requires closing

Have you tried a powered USB hub? Might be draining too much power from your motherboard and the mobo can't keep up. All my gaming peripherals (trackIR 5, warthog, mfds, pedals) go to a powered hub and even if it powers my gear when I plug it into the PC, I still connect it to the mains "just to be sure."

I have also had any number of problems with my trakir 4. I used all the drivers, I did ( like you) everything to no avail. If you are able, insist on an RMA with vincent and get a new unit. It can be a pain to mess with, I dont use Beta drivers- some folks have good luck with them but I dont, I feel like I am the guinea pig for the vendor cause they release thier product - to sales- too soon!
good luck

Argon, I looked on the Bios but was unable to see any of that information. As I understand it, to do that I have to go to the Bios when the computer is booting (F2) correct?
From what I gathered online, Dell has a watered down version of the Bios which doesn't allow access to advanced features?

after owning dells for years - let me tell you- dont mess with the dell bios, the boards -chipsets etc are proprietary and you WILL shaft your PC. So if youve flashed the last bios from the Dell site- your done! I finally built my own PC and used an ASUS board, these other boards can be updated past what dell likes to call " end of life" dont listen to those who tell you to go to the mobo web site and load the latest bios for your board. Dell buys cheap - limited boards from foxconn etc, and you can fry your rig. Its a lot cheaper and easier to buy ( and install) another TrakIR
